Ty and Candyman are at a diner and they are chit-chatting with a man behind the counter, and Ty asks for the check. Hey, this is Candyman you're with -- there's no charge! As they are leaving, Sully comes in and looks very surprised. Candyman walks out of the diner, and Ty stays to talk to Sully. Ty asks Sully if he has been playing Steely Dan in the car since he's alone. Sully tells Ty that Candyman isn't like him, and when Ty is with Candyman he's going to be around stuff, and Ty should try not to see it. Cryptic much? Sully then tells Ty about the hit-and-run, that one kid is dead and another one probably will die. Candyman comes back in to get Ty, and Sully goes to the counter to get a coffee. As his coffee is being poured, Sully gets a call that a black man in his forties is at a park, waiting to turn himself in for the hit-and-run.
Doc and Carlos are in the ambulance, and Carlos is talking about the girl who died. Apparently Doc doesn't hear a word Carlos says, because he asks Carlos how Doc Senior looked to him. Carlos tells him his dad looked like he doesn't like being old. Doc tells Carlos that his dad told him to start worrying about his own life instead of his, and Carlos thinks it's good advice. Doc is annoyed. The truth hurts, Doc!
Sully goes to the park and finds the man and cuffs him. The man asks about the kids, and Sully tells him he hit three of them. The man tells Sully that he slid on some ice and was afraid to hit his brakes, and after he hit the kids he was afraid to stop, because he thought the people in the neighborhood would beat him or kill him since he was a black man who hurt white children.
