Next scene is Scraggle making an ass out of himself in front of Vicki Lawrence, who is playing a director of personnel. She asks why he comes to her with no résumé, no previous experience, and a typing test of twelve words per minute and yet thinks he can be an executive assistant. "Well, I like answering phones, I like making coffee and I like being around powerful people!" Vicki looks at Spencer in horror as he leans back and smiles goofily at her. Downstairs, Scraggle points Vicki Lawrence out to Sarah. "That's her, director of personnel," he tells her. Sarah nods and thanks him. Ah, so all that was a ruse? Those crazy kids, will the hijinks never cease? Yes, after tonight they will!
In a diner, J.B. surfaces for the first time, offering to off Mini-Tom Cruise for Platypus. "Thanks, J.B., that's sweet but fuhgeddaboutit [oh, no, she did not!]." J.B. questions her closely about why she's hanging out at a place where she's abused and not getting paid, saying, "Frankly [it] strikes me as a little nuts. I mean, I don't do anything for nothing." Nope, not even the horizontal tango. Platypus tells him she doesn't expect him to understand, but she just has to be there.
Sarah approaches Vicki Lawrence at a lunch counter. "Elaine Morgan? Sarah Merrin, I'm sorry you don't remember me. We met at a party, oh, God, this is so embarrassing, I don't remember whose anymore!" Vicki Lawrence assures her it's okay because she's the one who's blanking on Sarah's face. Sarah pitches her temp agency, called Temporary Sanity, to Vicki, who tells her that she's happy with the agencies she's been using, "but we should sit down and talk." Sarah fudges that they aren't looking to take on any more clients since they've been so "swamped" since January, but she agrees that they should talk. She opens up her planner to give Vicki her card and finds that she's out, "again." Sarah writes down her number.
Joss is having lunch with Danny and asks him if he's loaded, "because [he] seem[s] to have really deep pockets." Danny tells her he's played the markets and been successful a few times. Joss asks him if there is anything he can let her in on. "Because I have got to stop keeping my money under my mattress," she laughs. Danny's face closes and he says that he'll let her know if he hears anything. Joss smiles uncertainly. Why was he willing to tip off Scraggle but not Joss? It's either because the deal was shady and he doesn't want Joss losing money, or he doesn't think women are business-minded. Platypus goes to stagnate at rehearsal and learns that Mini-Tom Cruise has also been let go as a part of the cost-cutting measures. They make nice, and Platypus proposes that Mini-Tom Cruise direct her, because he needs the experience and she needs all the help she can get. Yeah, I'm sure they will be directing and acting themselves right into Platypus's mound -- er, I mean, "boudoir."
