Samantha opens her apartment door to discover Heather standing there. She heard that Samantha was sick, and rushed right over with some soup. What's with this show and soup? Do they think they're The View, or something? Heather voices her concern that Peter also called in sick and, wouldn't you know it, Peter comes to the door wondering who's there. Wasn't Heather intent on staying in bed all day? What's she doing in the wrong part of town, already? Heather feigns surprise at Peter's being there, but Peter couldn't care less if people know about their relationship. Heather understands if Samantha's concerned about appearances. Last she heard, office romances were verboten. Great -- now the writers are going to start sticking German in everywhere. And if office romances were forbidden, then what's going on with Heather/Richard, Jenny/David, Heather/Chandler, David/Laurie, Gwen/Jack and Peter/the guy who delivers the bagels in the morning? Heather tells Peter not to worry -- she's a changed woman, and her lips are zipped. Satisfied, Peter returns to the bathroom, forgetting to gauge her comments with his Phillips Sarcastometer. After Heather leaves, Peter suggests they dump the soup and get back to the consommé. But there'll be no more sex for Petey right now, since Samantha's got to get to work to keep an eye on Heather.
Gwen steps into her house, fresh from picking roses. She spies Faith, ever-so-fetching in her schoolgirl uniform, going through Gwen's purse. Unaware that she's being watched, Faith pulls out a bottle of perfume and gives her wrist a squirt. "That's Chanel #22," Gwen interjects, startling Faith in mid-spritz, "and it's very expensive." Any schoolgirl could come up with a better excuse than Faith does right now: she says that she got all worried when she saw Gwen's purse sitting out like that. She quickly changes direction: "I just got home with Ethan after his first day at Bramley." She continues to blather on confidently about his first day while Gwen writes something down on a piece of paper. It's a cheque for Faith's last two sessions: her services will no longer be required, and she's no longer permitted to interact with Ethan, or she'll suffer the consequences. Extreme consequences. Ethan comes does down the stairs, but Gwen is already sending Faith on her own way. She delivers an ultimatum: either he stops seeing Faith, or he stops seeing her. It's his decision but she'll make it for him if she has to.
WGE. Heather and Samantha are seeing off some executives from a charity with the promise that they can have some original dresses for a silent auction. It's Samantha's favorite charity -- the Save A Child from Domestic Work foundation. Samantha warns Heather that this had better not be some kind of suck-up move, because with Heather, there's always an ulterior motive. Heather questions Samantha as to whether she really believes that Peter has genuine feelings for her. Samantha is about to leave when Heather tries a softer approach: "So how did he get into your bed?" That's a dignified enough question for her to answer, and she spills everything she learned last week about Peter and Maureen as if that's sufficient reason to sleep with him. Hmmm, perhaps that's something that Heather could look into. Samantha warns her not to get in the way of their relationship, or she'll make Heather regret it. With extreme consequences.
