It's not a bad room, despite some of the cheesy aspects and the motel/hotel-ishness of some things, like the headboard and the floating night tables. The night tables are not bad in and of themselves, but they're not the most Buddhaful thing I've ever seen. I just wish I liked the colour scheme more. I don't mind the warm yellow (though I'm dog-tired of yellow after nineteen million episodes of this show), and I love the blue. I just don't like this brown with it -- and it's a nice enough brown, not the cold brown they often use on this show. (Mind you, I'm damn glad it isn't the peach I thought it was on the other TV. That was a dreadful-looking room.) It's a very Laurie-ish room. Overall, it is a very dramatic change, and it's attractively laid out (if a wee bit stiff). I like the fabrics Edward used, and I like that he didn't take away the storage Craig and Jill had for books (which would have been a one-way ticket to my shit list). It does take the HOs' wishes into account, and that's important. I don't care for drapes used to cover doorways, but in this case, the view into that area was really unappealing, and this is an improvement. It would have been preferable, though, to build some kind of doors there. I don't like the painting at all, but that sort of thing is easy to fix. (1. Raise hands. 2. Grasp painting. 3. Lift it off the wall. 4. Walk to curb. 5. Let go.) I'm also not crazy about the pan-Asian mishmash approach to things, but I think I'm a voice crying in the wind on that one. It's not so much the mishmashiness that bothers me as the lack of awareness that one is picking and choosing cultural and religious references like items in a cafeteria. I'd just like to see a little more sensitivity. Like I said: crying in the wind. The TV arrangement is terrible, and I think the location of the dresser and the TV stand could be switched and the room would still look good. Jill and Craig's TV, though, is a little small to be that far from the bed. Meh, TVs in the bedroom aren't good feng shui anyway, though it was Carla who said she cared about that. On the whole, it's a nice enough room, and it at least shows some originality.
