MPDP tells Hildi (who's wearing a low-cut black top under a beige jacket with a long pearl necklace), that Debbie and Scott told her a little secret. Hildi: "They love the room?" MPDP: "No, they don't hate it." Hildi says they already told her that: "As usual at the end, they say, 'oh, now we see.'" Yeah, "as usual." Everyone comes around to Hildi's way of thinking. Except for all the times when they didn't, that she's conveniently ignoring. Yeesh, the yellow is so unflattering to both of them. Not that I can imagine anyone to whom it would be flattering. MPDP: "Hildi, this is a pretty unappetizing, relatively unappealing, vulgar yellow." Ha! Sing it, sister! Can I get an "Amen"? MPDP continues: "And it was very frightening as it was coming together." And now we see that our fears were not misplaced. Hildi just keeps a supercilious smile plastered on her puss. But of course, Mippy starts backpedalling: "But then to see the room in its totality...it's striking, it's retro, it's fun..." Hildi supplies "elegant." It's striking, all right, but so's a automobile accident. So's a baseball bat in the face. So's a train wreck. Wait...Hildi really wanted to make the furniture "pop" and she thinks she really achieved that by painting the walls and ceiling black. MPDP says that the white curtains on each side go a long way toward offsetting the cavelike feeling. On that front, Hildi mentions the light, too. MPDP says that the light helped put her over budget. Hildi says it's because Amy Wynn added dimmers, which put her about $20 over budget. I can't even imagine how bright this fixture is at full power. MPDP says she's about $26 over. And as usual, there's no discussion of her paying it back. MPDP says that eggs are a big part of this room, which could be a problem: "'Cause they're going to start to stink after a while!" Then they'll match the room.

Fast-forward sequence, and then Chuckles opens his eyes first and says, "Oh my God...oh, wow...it looks great!" Huh? Ellen: "Oh, my gosh." Chuckles: "Oh my God." Ellen points at the light fixture: "Oh, I don't...I could live without that." MPDP laughs, "Oh, really? That was kind of her main focus in the room." Chuckles likes it, apparently. Ellen says, smiling but bummed: "It's a Hildi room. It's a Hildi room." MPDP agrees. She points out that all their chairs have been recovered, and says that they were all big fans of the fabric. Ellen says that the fabric's pretty. MPDP: "And it's yellow." The penetrating insights on this show, they just never stop coming. Ellen: "It's very yellow. And that's black." Chuckles: "I don't think it's that bad." Ellen: "I don't think it's that good."MPDP asks whether they like the art (the spraypainted screens). Ellen: "Mmm. Not especially." Chuckles likes the screens. He doesn't like the yellow. He thinks the black is a little stark, but that he might be able to get used to it. Ellen: "We'll call the painter on Monday. For sure. Definitely." MPDP laughs and suggests that they could paint some zeenyas around.
