Gabe and Lee are attaching the top for the island to a cabinet. The cabinet must be new, because it has three drawers in it, above two doors, and they didn't have any drawers before.

MPDP harangues Hildi about time, saying that they need to load the room. Hildi says that they're loaded, and lists a bunch of things they still have to bring in. MPDP complains that that's a lot of stuff. Hildi goes back to spraying and MPDP tells them to keep up the pace.

Woohoo! Wrap sequence! Last one of the season! "Will Amy and Michael get down to spicy music in Kia's kitschen? Will Hildi's foam floor put a bounce in Gabe and Lee's step?"

Kitschen's up first. The walls are turmeric; the trim is white. The floor looks even dingier now that the walls are so vivid. In the corner of the room we didn't see much of in the opening, there's an interesting round, multipaned window in a square frame. The large black side-by-side fridge had been in front of that, blocking it most inelegantly. Now the fridge has been turned ninety degrees so that its back is against the wall. It still blocks the window slightly, but not as much. But I think it's going to be a problem to get into the fridge, because there's only a small area for the door to open into, since the dishwasher is on the other side of the window. So you wouldn't have much room to manouevre in front of the doors. Which, I'm sure, is why they had it the other way. I was wondering why Kia spent the money to replace their old countertop, since it didn't seem like that was a really meaningful improvement, but in this shot you can see that the new grey countertop extends over the dishwasher, which the old one did not. Kia's put the microwave on top of the dishwasher now, though, so they're not really gaining much desperately-needed counter space there. Also, they used to have their dish drainer perched on the too-narrow scrap of counter between the sink and dishwasher, and it might fit there now, or it might not, depending on how far over the microwave can be moved. If they put the dish drainer on the other side of the counter, it eats up the larger bit of countertop. Since they have a dishwasher, I'm not sure why they don't just keep the dish drainer in one side of the sink, but whatever. A new silver light fixture has been installed above the window in front of the sink, and there's a narrow little straight valance stretched over the top quarter of the window made of the same Holiday Inn bedspread fabric they used on the diner seat. There's a plant hanging in the window and some art on the walls. The table and chairs in the centre of the room have been replaced with a work island -- a tabletop decoupaged with the sheet music attached to a cabinet with drawers. The cabinet's painted a reddish orange. Actually, I now see that the cabinet is the one that had before, which had been placed under the bank of open shelves and where they had their microwave. It looks, though, like they placed it so that useable side of it (with the drawers and doors) faces away from the side of the kitchen where the appliances and storage is and toward the wall. That's just stupid, but at least it can be turned around. In the space between two of the doors on the wall behind it, where there used to be a little table with a toaster oven on it, now hangs the trombone pot rack. Yes, just in the middle of nowhere, not close to counters, stove, or anything. The entrance that didn't have a door, but where there is a flight of stairs leading to the second floor, has been covered with curtains in a shiny orange fabric.
