Kia's got some tea and wants to tea-stain the sheet music to give it a "parchment effect" -- after they glue it down. I'm no decoupage nut -- as you may have surmised -- but wouldn't you colour or stain the paper before gluing it down? It doesn't seem all that bright to add a water-based stain to something you just glued down. She says they'll then seal the tabletop so that Amy and Michael can eat off it or spill water on it or whatever.

Amy Wynn explains to Hildi that MDF is incredibly heavy. After forty-umpteen shows, shouldn't Hildi know that? My almost four-year-old niece probably knows that. Geez, Kia probably knows that.

Gabe tries to gently suggest to Kia the idea of including plants, because his neighbours are "really earthy folks." Kia decides to use plants as window treatments, because it will save money.

Homework time. Hildi nags Amy Wynn to go get her tools and get cracking on installing the desk/shelving unit. She tells her team to paint the desk unit white, and touch up the walls and doors. Hildi tosses the roller in the air and catches it neatly by the handle.

Kia wants her team to spraypaint the radiator and the chase in "metallic." Metallic what? Looks like copper. She's got an old trombone she plans to use as a pot rack, and wants the hooks spraypainted copper. They also have to clean up "all the instruments" and paint and stain the bass cabinet. And: install the lights and a ceiling fan. And "hang the window." Huh? Don't know what that's about.

Day Two. Amy and Michael are sitting on the porch in front of a big, cheesy framed picture of Gabe, when he was much younger and had a lot more hair, wearing a tuxedo and standing in front of a lurid red background. He's holding a champagne glass and pouring champagne into another one, but he's staring right into the camera, so the pouring action looks weird. Is he a famous sommelier or something? Hildi arrives and asks, "What's up with Elvis?" I wonder if she realizes it's Gabe. They explain that they missed their friends and wanted to hang out with them, and couldn't find Lee so they thought they could at least drink their coffee with Gabe. Hildi's holding a large snow globe containing the Eiffel Tower. Apparently Lee and Gabe collect snow globes, and she says, "This is gonna be the biggest one of the bunch!" Perhaps she brought that from Paris just for them. That would be sweet. Or maybe she found it in a thrift shop. Hildi asks how homework went; Amy says they were up late and did almost everything. Oy, please stop showing close-ups of Michael's beard. Aren't there enough eyesores in this episode? Hildi says that they have a long list of things to do: install the curtain rod, install the shelf, install the track lighting, upholster the sofa, and screw up the floor by gluing foam on it. Better get cracking! They gather up Gabe and go inside.
