Fortress Forbes: Stefan sees Caroline to her door and offers to come in with her for a while. There's a nice moment of chemistry between them as Stefan tells her she doesn't have to pretend with him. "Anybody would be upset after what you went through tonight." Caroline insists she's okay. "I'm not girlie little Caroline, anymore. I can handle myself." It's all close talking and hushed tones, 'til Caroline excuses herself and bids Stefan goodnight.
Mossy Manse: Uncle John calls on Damon so they can finish their convo. He says he thinks Damon and Stefan will do everything they can to protect Elena, so he presents Damon with an alleged Originals killing-kit, containing the ash from a white oak that dates back to the Originals' genesis, and a handy dandy dagger, that should be dipped into the ash and then plunged into an Original's heart. John says he got the goods and the intel from Isobel, and adds, "Let's just say that if she accomplishes what she's intending, Klaus will never set foot in Mystic Falls." I hope this doesn't involve toe sucking, John. He ignores me and continues: "Where Elena is concerned, you and I are on the same side."
Fortress Forbes: As Caroline pulls the mini-darts out of her neck and cries, the phone rings. It's Matt, wondering why she didn't show at the Grill. Caroline lies that she's with Bonnie, who really needs her. However, Bonnie is getting all snuggly-wuggly with Jeremy at the Grill, right in front of Matt's face. He doesn't call her on her fib, he just hangs up the phone and waits for me to bring him some pudding. Tyler shows up at the Forbes' door, to check on Caroline, and apologizes to her, explaining he doesn't know who to trust, especially since she lied to him. Caroline's voice rises as she explains she lied to protect her friends, including him. But when push came to shove out in the woods, Tyler just stood there. Tyler apologizes again, but Caroline tells him it's too late. "...We're not friends, anymore. What happened to me tonight? That will never happen again, so you take that back to your little werewolf pack and you get the hell out of my house."
Gilbert Gables: John startles Elena in the kitchen and apologizes for "grounding" her, later. Elena makes no bones about telling him he's not wanted there and she doesn't want his protection. In fact, she's pretty damned sick of everyone protecting her. I don't blame you, Elena. You've been really sidelined, lately. I need a dislike button. To make amends, John gives her a bracelet that once belonged to her mother. Elena assumes he means Isobel, but John corrects her. It was Miranda Gilbert's bracelet. "Miranda and Grayson were your parents, Elena. And I know I'm nothing to you. You have no reason to believe or trust me. I've done so many horrible things, but when you lost your parents -- I lost my brother, my family. I lost my way." He's going to do everything he can to protect her and the family. Elena is moved to tears, but not to words. She breathes a sigh of relief when Stefan arrives. As they embrace, she tells Stefan she can't believe John. Stefan just hugs her. When Elena asks how Caroline is, Stefan tells her he could use her help.
