BLOGS

So last month we were sort of excited about the prospect of the Human Tetris game show import. But then Saturday I saw them auditioning freaky people for this game show at the local Dave & Busters (I like their mini-burgers, please don't judge). Anyway, Hole in the Wall, the nice pretty American title, is exactly what it sounds like, but looks even stupider than you can possibly imagine.

While sitting enjoying some potato skins and chatting with my spouse and my friend, we saw groups of three heading into a mysterious back room dressed in odd costumes, from a bunch of guys with Luchador masks to a trio of women sporting skimpy tops and flowers in their hair looking like the slutty girls at a Tiki bar. We couldn't contain our curiousity of what the hell was going on at this messed up Bar Mitzvah (our best guess) and asked the waitress. She politely informed us that they were auditioning for Hole in the Wall and hey, since we were three people (ignoring my two-year-old sitting at the table) maybe we should think of a theme and try out. No way in hell, was the response in my mind. But instead we just kind of nodded. She explained that there were videos playing in the lobby if we wanted to see it in action. So while we were playing the phony slot machines and earning tickets to exchange for crappy prizes, we watched this game show, which is so ridiculous it makes Wipeout look genius. Basically you, and your equally dumbass pals, stand on a platform above a pool, and a huge wall with a cut out comes at you. If you make it through, you win! Yay! If you don't, you get soaked like a clown in a dunk tank.

While we here at TWoP had hoped this would help give nerds a new outlet, that doesn't seem to be the case. It actually looked like you might need a little athletic prowess to hold some of those poses (some looked a bit like cheerleading pyramids), and plus-sized couch potatoes need not apply because the holes in said wall seem to be made for those hovering around an average weight and height. Unless, of course, you are looking to make a fool of yourself on TV... in which case, this may just be the game show for you.
