Anyway, he apparently meant that the series will mostly focus on the inner workings of a hotel and the central, sassy latina character's interactions with her co-workers, because he's a huge fan of Upstairs, Downstairs (which, I know that show is revered and everything, but it seriously makes me want to stab a scone). And they didn't mention a politician character as a love interest, so basically they're just Ugly Betty-ifying Upstairs, Downstairs and calling it something mainstream America has actually heard of. That's a little thing called strategery, folks.
Oh, and you haven't even heard the best part yet. Hodge also said Jennifer Lopez herself is going to be "very integral in the pilot and series" and that she's already contributed "a fountain of ideas." Naturally, because she was so successful with El Cantante and Feel the Noise, and is generally renowned for making great decisions (Selena aside, of course; that movie is my bible.) Call me when there's a show about Ice Cube-eating snakes, ABC. This thing sounds like a JLo movie.
