Hiro on Heroes

Hiro on Heroes

Whether you're on board with Heroes Season 3 or not, if you're still watching it you've undoubtedly got some questions. We recently hopped on a media call with the always gracious Masi Oka, who talked about Hiro's love life, Adam's return, what went wrong in Season 2 and explained why he's totally Mary Poppins this year, all while fighting a cold. Also, and I'm not saying it was you, but if you happen to see Masi Oka in a public bathroom, do not watch him pee, you guys. Highlights after the jump.

Can you talk about challenges that you're having this year as an actor? Is there more stunt work for you? What's different this year?

MO: There's definitely a lot more stunt work. It's a lot of fun being put in a harness and just walking in the air. I feel like Mary Poppins. That's not a pun.

The last two seasons Hiro has had a love interest. He had Charlie and she died, and then Yaeko, but he lives without her as well. So is he going to be having a love interest this season?

MO: Oh, we don't know yet. I mean, that's always up in the air. Personally, as a fan, I like Hiro and Charlie's love story, and just leave it at that. Having him fall for Yaeko right afterwards... because in Hiro's biological timeline, it was literally two weeks after Charlie's death, when Hiro had spent six months with Charlie. Ultimately, if there is an end for Hiro, my poetic ending for him would be to live in an infinite time loop and living his times with Charlie over and over and over again.

Have you ever had die-hard fans come up to you on the street and actually think that you have powers in real life?

MO: Yeah, sometimes they do. I don't think they believe I can teleport, but people do ask me to do things. It's quite interesting. You know, the most awkward times are -- I hate to be crass in the morning but, you know, when you're in the restroom. And I've had fans recognize me, and they'll come into the restroom with me. And then they'll watch me, you know, for lack of a better word, take a leak. And they'll be watching, and it's like, "You know, it's not like my urine stops time or anything. Can you please not stare at me while, you know?" I personally think I can actually stop time because every time I go into a room and like I tell a bad joke, man, time freezes. It feels like a long time.

What can we expect from round three between Adam and Hiro?

MO: I think like the episode descriptions already gave away that Adam Monroe will be coming back. So we know he'll be coming back. How? Why? Well, that we don't know yet. That one I probably can't spill too much on, but there will be a Hiro/Adam Monroe round three.

What would be the one thing about your character that you would change if you could?

MO: If I could? One thing I would change? Maybe be a little bit less -- I don't know. I don't know if I would change. I mean, I would say less gullible. That's what leads him to trouble. If he wasn't gullible all the time, he wouldn't get in trouble so much, But that's kind of what makes Hiro good... the fun of seeing Hiro get into trouble and go climb up the wrong tree, you know, and having to get himself out of it, or have Ando help him get out of it.

Tim Kring said awhile back that he could understand why fans were a bit disappointed with Season 2 and how it all turned out. What have you seen so far that would return Season 3 to Season 1 levels in terms of tone and story?

MO: Well, Season 3 is definitely a lot more fast-paced. You know, it's basically the writers' answers to the feedback we received from the fans. They wanted fast storytelling, a lot more action and a lot more of the original characters. And I think the writers took those words to heart and delivered something that the fans wanted.

What did you think about Season 2 overall?

MO: My reaction to Season 2... you know, I thought the writers made a bold choice. There were a lot of expectations. And the writers decided to go a different route than expected by the fans, you know, to shake things up. I don't think the fans reacted the way the writers hoped for. And, you know, we make the show for the fans, and that's what's really important to us. So we took that to heart, and the back half of Season 2 was back on pace to what we originally intended. What made Season 1 great was back-storytelling and a lot of the twists and turns. So Season 3, I think, is going back to what the fans wanted, and still following to Tim Kring's vision and the stories the writers wanted to tell.

Liltitz is smack in the middle of Amish Country in Lancaster,Pa. I know the area well. The King @ Queen might have irraved by horse and buggy. Zeke and Rebecca must have been the talk of the prom in their Amish garb. Zeke in his black home made suit with wide rim Amish hat.Rebecca, simply stunning in her black dress with purple sash, held together by straight pins from neck line to knee. You all ever get down wind of an Amish farmer after he's been a toilin in the fields for 10-12 hours? Hopefully Zeke used some of that home made lye soap that grandma been fussin about. After the Prom Zeke and Rebecca went out behind the barn and had some of that white lightnin' pa been brewin up n'er 6 months now.Probably used then fancy city folks shot glasses. No tellin what Zeke and Rebecca did after that moonshine Maybe them there straight pins got loose or something. Reckon, them there young ones had them a hootin, hollerin time there in Lilitz,PA.

John and others were vicmits of racial slurs. Another black congressman was spat upon and an openly gay lawmaker was called an ugly name. What it is time for is PROOF. Seems odd that with all the TV, radio and independent bloggers around that not one shred of evidence has surfaced for the incident you cite other than the say so of some of the most vile people to ever hold office, the same people that say that if we don't support bho's policies it is because we are racist, the same people who had just rammed the greatest tax increase in US history and the greatest loss of liberty down the people's throats. The same people who will do anything to distract from those facts.I do not doubt that one the great race baiters in congress believes he heard something but likely what he heard was disgust for selling out his people yet again. How many more black children will be killed now that federal funds can be legally used for abortion? Maybe he heard his conscience.
