Why, Katee Sackhoff? Why?

Why, Katee Sackhoff? Why? When news broke in May that Katee Sackhoff would be following BSG with a fun (and knowing that show, downright filthy!) guest stint on Nip/Tuck, I could hardly contain my excitement. Since then, thoughts like, "Starbuck as a love interest for Sean? Yes!" "Ooh, I bet Christian'll try to steal her!" "Julia's going to be so jealous! I don't even care that she's a lesbian now!" and so on and so forth have been whirring around in my head almost non-stop. Sadly, that all came to an end today when my Starbuck-guesting-on-Nip/Tuck dreams were dashed against the rocks, and everything about it got really annoying.

Sackhoff has backed out of her Nip/Tuck appearances in favor of starring in a Dick Wolf-produced cop procedural instead. So, yeah... there's going to be another one of those. She will play the lead in Lost and Found, as "an offbeat female LAPD detective who, after butting heads with the higher-ups, is sent as a punishment to the basement to work on John Doe and Jane Doe cases." Gah! So basically, it's Cold Case, Dick Wolf style. Because the public was just rioting in the streets demanding that.

I do understand the appeal of procedurals for actors -- they translate easily to viewers, giving you a big chance at exposure to a wide audience, and if a procedural series is half decent, it has a better chance than most formats at staying on the air a while, which means big cash money -- but stiiiiill, whyyyyyy? Katee Sackhoff is so much better than that (what she should have been the lead in is Fringe, though that schedule would have conflicted with BSG at the time).

Oh, and if Starbuck bowing out of Nip/Tuck isn't bad enough, guess who they got to replace her? Rose McGowan. That sucks! You can't replace Starbuck with the chick from Charmed! It's the biggest downgrade in history! I hate everything! Down with Dick Wolf!
