If I had read the news that CBS' relationship drama The Ex List had been suddenly yanked from the schedule (presumably for good... but people are afraid to use the word "canceled" lately) right after the premiere, I would have been bummed. However, that was before I watched the last few episodes and weecaped them. All of the charm of the pilot seemed to be slowly getting sucked out. It's no wonder the showrunner left. The optimism I felt about the show when I talked to star Elisabeth Reaser had slowly dissipated. Though that wouldn't have stopped me from watching it completely... I watch way crappier shows than this one for much longer than I should. Most normal people did stop though, so CBS opted to sub in NCIS reruns. Not a good sign.
Maybe it really was Eric Balfour (who I have an irrational hatred for) who was the winning ingredient in the pilot. Or maybe the series was a poor fit for CBS and for Friday nights from the start (why wouldn't a frisky dramedy about dating fit well between a supernatural series about a woman who sees ghosts and a show about guys with guns and math?) Or like I wished last week, maybe it would have been better as a half-hour comedy.
It's too bad, it had some real potential and was a little bit out of the normal box, plus... the beach scenes and flowers were pretty to look at. Plus, the string of cute guys who played Bella's exes weren't too hard on the eyes either. But alas, this show is just one that will be dusted off anytime I need an example of foreign shows that didn't translate. Sad but true. At least now I can pretend that Bella and her hot ex-boyfriend with the pretty dog have reconciled and are living happily ever after. It's nicer in my world... and saves a lot of hours of traipsing through strings of bad boyfriends. I did kinda wanna see Daphne's wedding though... is it wrong that I'd watch the unaired episodes on DVD?
Your thoughts on this show? All one of you besides me who actually watched it.

I loved this show. It was seriously my favorite of the new season. I really liked the first two episodes, and then it was missing something. Less focus on Cyrus and her blonde friend couldn't have hurt. Sad to see it go, especially since it really could have blossomed (not intending any florist pun) on another night or paired with other shows.
I, too, am bummed this show is ending. I agree with Eric that something was missing, but it felt like the show was about to gel. Sigh. I, too, will end up watching the unaired episodes on DVD. I know this show wasn't quite right, but I don't understand how some truly craptacular shows stay on the air, year after year, while promising shows get the ax.
The Friday night timeslot is a killer. It should be next to Private Practice or Grey's, since the actress came from there. Presumably, the audience would follow an actor from the Grey's series even if she played a different character? I don't know. I like the idea of this show better than the actual show.
I think the show would have worked great paired with How I Met Your Mother. Or at least another comedy.
Oh well, I'm looking forward to the DVDs.
I liked the show, too. I was a little afraid of where it was going. The "taking a shower" part of the last episode and the way Bella seemed to be sleeping her way through her ex list made me wary. Some poeple (especially people that watch CBS) are afraid of female sexuality and a whole show about a woman trying to find 'the one' while bed hopping might have been a little too much for some people to handle. I'm not saying I agree, I'm just saying it might have turned viewers off.
I will watch it on DVD as well, but mostly for the smoking hot male guest stars, the last, Brian Van Holt, one was my fave. He was on Threshold another CBS show canceled too soon.
