BLOGS
I don't usually attack TV ads (even the freaky Burger King ones), but ask.com started it with their whole "nagging questions" campaign. They've got random people going about their day staring vacantly into space with other people (who look nothing at all like them) hanging off of their shoulder asking random questions. It is supposed to be their inner monologue... or something like that, and then the gimmick is that they can find out all their answers at ask.com. Or not. When I was trying to find video footage of these spots... I had to go to Google to get it quickly. It might have been on ask.com somewhere, but it was probably buried. Or perhaps I didn't put in my terms in the form of the question. But since I'm not on Jeopardy!, I don't feel the need.
I normally skip commercials, but these seem to be everywhere and it is just freaking me out. Especially the one of the young teen boy whose mind apparently speaks like a plus-sized, middle-aged woman. He ponders the burning questions of how to build muscle or what girls like to talk about. The pregnancy one is very strange, too, with the guy speaking a woman's thoughts about Kegel muscles and then snuggling in bed between a husband and wife. Frankly, if I'm going to have my inner monologue personified, I'd like it to look something like me, or a younger, skinnier version of me. Or, if not that, then maybe the guy who plays Eric from True Blood.
Maybe I'm missing something. Do other people find them funny? Let us know.
[My pregnant wife loves the pregnancy one, especially when the Indian man wonders where he can get a bucket of fried chicken right now. And I'm just happy to see the plus-sized woman working -- she was one of the Fat Fighters from Little Britain. - Zach]

Those ads creep me out, too, Angel. And I don't get the concept at all. Can't we just go back to the dulcet tones of John Krasinski?

I am completely bothered by the pregnancy one, but mostly because the old Indian man reminds me of my grandpa -- and he's asking about sex. Ew.
