BLOGS
To be upfront about this, I like watching baseball on TV. It's one of the few non-Olympic sports that I actually find engaging on the small screen and not just in person. I'm a Mets fan by marriage, but I'll watch the local Yankees or the Red Sox since I grew up in New England, or the Orioles, since my dad is a fan. But this World Series match up between the Phillies (whom I am sort of in theory rooting for because they outplayed the Mets in their division and I respect that) and the Tampa Bay Rays (whom I have lost all respect for since they took the word Devil out of their name) is shaping up to be the most tediously boring series ever (people who know real stuff about sports agree!). Unless you live in Philadelphia or Florida, or grew up there, are you at all interested in them? If the Red Sox had made it, I know plenty of people who would have watched, just to see if they'd lose (it's the schadenfreude effect in action).
But instead, it's these two teams, and one of them is bound to win. Let me know when it's over OK? I got all the excitement I needed watching the ACLS games last week between the Red Sox and the (Devil) Rays. And there're only so many times that I can giggle that the (Devil) Rays have a player named Evan Longoria. Mostly I'm annoyed because it messes with my TV watching schedule. I don't like anything that messes with my schedule, especially if it isn't going to knock my socks off. So here's what I'm planning on doing instead.
1. Pout that Bones is preempted because of the World Series.
2. Watch old Angel DVDs.
3. Pout that Prison Break is preempted (if necessary) or a rerun, because I need my weekly crazy comical caper fix.
4. Go see Sucre in Max Payne
5. Pout again that Bones isn't on (if it goes to a game 6) or that they are airing a rerun (just in case the stupid World Series went to game 6).
6. Watch old Buffy DVDs.
7. Try and find a 5th grader on the street and prove I'm smarter than they are.
What will you be doing during the World Series? Let us know.
