B.J. Novak Has Gone Hollywood, Is So Over The Office Not exactly earth-shattering Office news, but I count myself as one of Ryan's loyal fans, so here we go. B.J. Novak has requested some time off from the series to film Quentin Tarantino's Nazi-slaying epic, Inglourious Basterds, and Ausiello is reporting that he may never come back, not even as a writer. There are conflicting reports -- some say he'll be back for a few more episodes this season, other insiders say he'll still write a few more episodes, but he's done playing Ryan on-screen.

I think Ryan's hilarious, but it does feel like the character has run its course. I do think the show would suffer from losing him as a writer, however. I mean, the man gave us Michael Scott's Chris Rock routine, and replaced Creed's apple with a potato. Not just anybody could write such genius! Most pressing issue in light of this news, though: with Ryan gone and Pam in NYC, who will man the reception desk? Any ideas?

They should have an episode in which Michael and or Dwight interview potential candidates for the job (craziness not required, but it is perfered) and then they let fans vote online for who gets the job!

I think Ryan's run his course. He used to be awesome, but now he's just an annoying douche. It would suck to lose B.J. Novak as a writer though.

I'm sure Pam will come back from her three-month summer course in NY and resume her receptionist job while working on some graphic design freelance.

Ryan never should have come back after his arrest. Leaving the office in handcuffs should have been his finale. I agree Novak will be missed as a writer on the show.

I saw him on the red carpet at the Emmys, he was a total jerk, not funny, and rude. His character sucks, he is a total jerk off. He should just Hangout with complete dbags Jeremy Piven and Zach Braff.

betty im not suprised that hes
a jerk in real life and I dont
even think hes actually acting on the office I used to like him
until I wrote to him in the freaking summertime and he had
the whole freaking summer to send me an autograph but he didnt and im not happy with him
anymore.

but why wait for his stupid boring plain looking office
autograph when im waiting for glee and james franco people who
can actually act and arnt hung up on themselves well expect for lea michelle from glee then
of course shes jewish and those
jews seem to be hung up on themselves for some stupid reason.

its pathetic and so is bj and ryan remember when ryan yelled at micheal after he became freaking stupid corporate and
stupid micheal just walks off into his office hell I would of
freaking punched his lights out
or punched him in the stomach as
hard as I can but of course micheal loves the little guy.

ugh.
