BLOGS
The blogs have been abuzz for weeks about rumors that someone on Gossip Girl is gonna be killed off, and recent photos taken from the set featuring all of the major cast members congregated at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn in their funereal finery seem to confirm the rumor. Everyone has his or her theory (and secret wish) as to who's gonna get it, but all signs thus far seem to point to Bart Bass, and last night's ep only served to confirm this. I'm referring specifically to the chain of events (Dan's thwarted exposé about Bart's shady past and the subsequent heart-to-heart between Bart and Chuck) that led to the revelation of Bart's humanity. Touching, yes, but it was also pretty inarguable proof that homeboy is going down.
As we TV addicts know from experience, no one's gonna kill off a sonofabitch who's only vaguely douchey. You either kill off an evil villain and the audience cheers with vindication, or you kill off someone good and pure and the audience weeps at the tragedy. Now that Bart has fessed up to his flaws and made his first attempt to redeem himself in his estranged son's eyes, his death will have just the right amount of bittersweetness (just when they were getting to know each other!) without threatening to derail the narrative or throw an irretrievable wrench in the season's proceedings. Chuck's already shown himself to be kind of a mess from his mom's death and his dad's neglect. Being orphaned will simply nudge him back on the tyrannical course he's abandoned for the last several episodes. Much as I loved to see a softer, more tenderhearted Chuck, he's at his best playing the venal, immoral dick we grew to know in the first season. Without that edge, he's just Dan Humphrey in wolf's clothing. And what fun is that?

I agree..it seems to be the way they are going with it, and he's important enough as a character to shake up the show with his death. I just hope that it's not some unnamed classmate/teacher/hanger-on.
It would be nice if they got rid of Vanessa, but I don't think the show has the balls to do it right now.
If it's not Bart, I say it's one of Nate's parents. And where do they sell that purse that Marc Jacobs named after Serena?
