BLOGS
So last night I watched this new Sci Fi channel reality show Chase, (which annoyingly has a $ in the title. Even our blog tool thinks that's too stupid to allow), that sounded promising. Basically people are dropped off in a deserted area and given clues to get from one side of the island/area to another and have to avoid being caught by hunters who are chasing after them (hence the title). But while it could have been cool and edgy, instead it is just plain old silly.
The runners get their maps and have to do a group task to get "deflectors" which will give each player one free pass, basically, as they aim this little gadget at the hunter and it sends the hunter off in a different direction. Which was kind of ridiculous since the deflectors don't have any actual special laser qualities or anything, but I was willing to let it slide. Until they got to the invisibility glasses. Which they are able to put on when they see a hunter coming, and it will allow them to remain undetected. But they are in no way invisible or hidden or even cloaked. This is ridiculous. They are wearing sunglasses. It's like when my two-year-old covers her eyes and says "you can't see me now."
Not to mention the fact that everyone is running around with iPhones (or more likely knock off versions) that loudly beep, giving away any hidden locations at a given moment. The hunters politely pretend to ignore that as well. Which is irksome. And the video screens on the phones are so blatantly superimposed videos that I kept laughing when I saw them. Truly annoying. Bring back Who Wants to be a Superhero. That was dumb too, but it seemed more stupid on purpose.
Watch the video below and judge for yourself in. Then let us know what you think.
