BLOGS

Entertainment Weekly Has an Interesting Interpretation of the Word 'Smartest' EW published a little list of those they deem to be the smartest folks in the TV biz today, and normally I wouldn't be talking about one of their features here but the internet kind of exploded over it for some reason, so I thought maybe we should discuss it. Also because there is some seriously retarded crap on it:

--The View ladies are on it, and deemed to be smart even though they are not.
--Rachel Maddow is on it, and deemed to be smart, which she of course is, but Anderson Cooper was omitted from the list and that's the worst.
--Seth MacFarlane is number one, and while I know he's quite divisive and putting a controversial person as number one is editorially sound, he's not that divisive, and anyway, The Family Guy's scripts are basically just lists of pop culture items, and that is not smart.
--Tyler Perry's on the list, which is annoying only because he's obviously brilliant at getting mass quantities of dumb people to watch his terrible show and movies, which is smart, but it's also terrible.
--They clumped Marc Cherry into a spot with Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse even though those people run two different shows that have nothing to do with each other besides being on the same network and not being shows that are cancelled.
--Seacrest is on it. I know he's rich as hell and has eleventy billion jobs, but, I mean, he's Seacrest and I hate him because he's Seacrest.
--Salma Hayek is on it, like her Ugly Betty producer credit actually means she does anything on that show. Which she doesn't.
--Tyra Banks is on it. And she's ranked "smarter" than John Stewart.

Thoughts? Who'd they leave out?
