If you are a Time Warner Cable customer and were planning on watching their Miley-filled New Year's Eve special (and I sincerely hope it was either because you wanted to mock it, or because you have a tween in your house that you wanted to appease) you may be out of luck. At 12:01 am, Time Warner's deal with Viacom goes kaput, and talks aren't looking so good. There's like money and that kind of crap involved (Variety has the specifics) but basically it comes down to the customers getting screwed over. Happy New Year!
This would not only knock out MTV, but all Viacom properties (excepting BET). So that means VH1, Comedy Central and all of the Nickelodeon channels would be off the air for those providers until this dispute is resolved. No The City, no Degrassi, no Daily Show, no Dora to subdue the screaming toddlers. Also, no Rock of Love or Confessions of a Teen Idol premieres if it isn't resolved by Sunday. Which is a true travesty.
Viacom has been plastering its alerts on its websites and on its programming (though I seriously wish they could find a way to eliminate it on my TV since I am not a Time Warner cable customer) and encouraging viewers to log complaints to their cable provider. At least it might lead to an extension, because those tweens are gonna riot if they don't get their Miley fix.

I despise Time Warner for so many reasons, and this is just one more reason of the MANY as to why I'm so glad I dumped them for satellite almost two years ago.
