Lorelai Gilmore is Back In Action!

by Lauren Gitlin December 12, 2008 11:45 AM
Lorelai Gilmore is Back In Action! The world has been waiting for the return of Lorelai Gilmore Lauren Graham for what feels like eternity. You all agree she's the best, right? Well, if the reports of her return to TV are true, we might fina-friggin'-lly be getting our wish. Graham is said to be tied to an as-yet untitled ABC sit-com from the Will & Grace scribes (not so good) and produced by Mitch Hurwitz (insanely good) that will follow her tribulations as a life coach-typed person whose own life begins to unravel after a super-rough breakup. Could be a hoot or the worst thing to happen to her since Because I Said So, which made me want to stab my eyes out, re-grow them with the help of stem-cell technology and then stab them out again.

Even before the Original GG went off the air last year, Graham had been trying her hand at movie-film projects with varying levels of success (see above). But everyone knows that the small screen is where our beloved LG really belongs. She can totally carry a show and she looks great in jeans. And this way we'll get to see her darling little face on the regular, instead of having to be subjected to the odd Evan Almighty sequel or puke-worthy rom-com. 'Course in today's TV climate, every new show is even more at risk than usual, and ABC seems like a particularly cancel-happy network locale, so whose to say if this puppy will beat the odds even if it does kick large amounts of ass? I don't want to get my (and your) hopes up too much. Let's all agree to go home and pray to our Lorelei Gilmore shrines tonight before we start with the sake bombs, m'kay?

Completely made my friday. I am in love with Lauren Graham (and Lorelai Gilmore).

Say what you will about ABC being cancel-happy; all three of the recently cancelled shows were on their second season, which is more than CBS gave the Ex List. C'mon Graham, I know you can do it!

Still, LG's first canceled show ("Townies" from 1996, also Jenna Elfman's first show and Molly Ringwald's shot at a comeback) was on ABC, and hardly lasted long at all.

But, even if I only manage to get one or two episodes of LG back on my TV screen in a new show, I'll be happy.
