Something is totally up this week. Maybe it was a tryptophan overdose from Turkey day or another bad bout of TV sickness brought on by House hostages and Heroes eclipses, but news that's coming out this week that should get me all irrationally exuberant and have me talking Mindy's ear off, really has just been met with a shrug.
For instance today they announced that they have greenlit episodes of Caprica, the Battlestar Galactica prequel. Well, that's fabulous, but I'm still waiting for the two-hour pilot that they filmed. I need my Eric Stoltz and Cylon fix. Do you hear me? Plus, TPTB mentioned that Caprica likely wouldn't hit the airwaves until 2010, and that is sofar off in the distance, and so much could happen before then, that I find it hard be enthusiastic yet.
Then ABC announced Flash Forward, which sounds potentially kinda cool. It's basically a series where the entire world has a two-minute long blackout and then their futures are changed forever and people have to try and reach their loved ones. Neat in a Nine meets Jericho sort of weird way. But I'm having trouble mustering up too much excitement for something that is in the pilot development stage. I'll hold out until I actually see something... like a trailer.
And I had a brief flicker of excitement/panic when I saw the news that Aimee Teegarden from Friday Night Lights was heading to 90210. Not that I want anything to happen to my beloved FNL, but 90210 could use some quality acting to make it better. My interest was subdued when I read on in the E! Online article to find out that Teegarden wasn't leaving FNL. Her stint in the zip code in no way effects FNL's future. And I remembered that I really just don't care about 90210 all that very much... unless Teegarden turns out to be related to the amazing Gangy.
Even trashy new celebreality stuff couldn't pull me out of my TV funk. The VH1 series Confessions of a Teen Idol, will have Eric Nies (The Grind!), Christopher Atkins (he who frolicked in the Blue Lagoon with Brooke Shields) and Jamie Walters (original 90210 abusive boyfriend, but it was Donna, so it was OK). If I'm not jumping up and down because the guy who sang "How Do You Talk to an Angel" is going to be back on TV, then something is seriously, seriously wrong with me. That was my JAM back in the day (for obvious reasons).
Hopefully some tidbit or piece of information will come along soon and really get me all excited about TV. Are you jumping up and down about any of the above info? Please share. I'd love some reasons to be joyful!
