In case you were reviewing the previous four seasons of Lost and thinking to yourself, "This show is pretty good, but I could really use more lingering questions to keep me up at night," ABC has released two! Entire! Minutes! of the season premiere for us interwebbed folks to watch. I know you're going to watch it (after the jump) anyway, but here's what happens in the clip and what it made me think about (we are in the business of recapping, after all):
Kate is in the kitchen of her McMansion feeding Aaron what appears to be food and calling him a "goober," like SHUT UP, KATE, when two lawyers from the law firm "Agustini and Norton" (I'm sure I'm spelling that wrong or misheard it or something, but go ahead and start rearranging the letters and googling those names looking for clues. I'll just be here staring into space still wondering what the Smoke Monster is. I'm a dweller. I dwell.) show up at her door with a court order demanding a blood sample to determine whether or not she is Aaron's mother. Only one of the lawyers speaks (the one who is the dad from My So-Called Life). The other lawyer seems to have been cast for his ability to leer at people hilariously. Like, seriously. This guy overacts using his face and his face alone. In all my years of god awful community theater I've never seen anything that terribly awesome. My hat is off to you, menacing overacting face guy! You have outdone the gent I was in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof with in high school who wouldn't go on until his dressing room was painted peach.
Kate tells the lawyers they're not getting any of her blood and they're welcome to get the hell off of her property too. They say they will be back with the sheriff (oh, so Kate lives in the county then? Innnnnnnnteresting! I believe Charles Widmore invented counties in the late '70s when he was managing Jethro Tull! Facts.)
She shuts the door and quickly packs a bag full of clothes, cash and firearms. And one pair of sandals for Aaron. She is truly a selfless and caring mother who is totally qualified to be raising a child. Anyway. She grabs Aaron, tells him they're going on "vacation," says goodbye to her McMansion like people used to do in series finales when they'd sigh, turn the lights off and walk out of the apartment/place of business/hang out spot that was the primary setting for the series and jets. Which is awesome, because I hate that stupid McMansion. Hey, maybe they'll go on "vacation" to a more architecturally interesting location! Either way, I guess we get to see more of Kate as a fugitive next season, which is fine.
The obvious questions to take away from the clip are who the hell are the lawyers and who are they working for? Obvious guess seems to be Widmore, just because he's obsessed with messing with the Losties, unless Ben is trying to trick Kate into going on the lam back at the island or something, but that's kind of far-fetched, even for this show. I suppose they could be working for Claire's mother? But who cares about her? They wouldn't make her a major character all of a sudden, would they? I ask you this. Watch the clip and leave your theories in the comments!

It's possible that the lawyers work for Jack. He is biologically related to Aaron and he and Kate didn't exactly part on good terms.
I kind of love how Kate had a stash of money hidden, like she knew it was just a matter of time before she would have to bust out. Awesome.
