Well, at least its not another dancing show. ABC has given the greenlight to a trainwreck in the making called Superstars. Not to be confused with the current trainwreck Superstars of Dance. Instead this one will pair celebrities (D-List or lower, I'm sure) with professional athletes to compete in events like swimming, biking, running and kayaking. Wow. That sounds... riveting. There's not a hell of a lot more exciting than watching people run.

It is loosely based on a segment that used to air during Wide World of Sports, which featured athletes (of various sporting mediums) competing in a series of events, without the celebrities. Not sure why they feel the need to much everything up with psuedo-celebs nowadays. I'd watch athletes competing against each other. And given the fact that most of the Dancing With the Stars champs have come from the pro athlete world (Kristi Yamaguchi, Emmitt Smith, Apolo Anton Ohno and even Helio Castroneves) I think the rest of the viewing public would watch it too.

How about you? Are you going to tune in for this latest celebreality adventure?

The athletes on Dancing with the Stars are usually the only legitimate "stars" on the show. But this show will probably have really obscure athletes who are specialists in whatever the discipline (NOT Lance Armstrong for cycling).

BTW wouldn't Lance Armstrong be awesome for DWTS?

I would watch! I agree with Ellen that the athletes on Dancing With the Stars are usually the only legitimate stars, who have won numerous medals, trophies, honors, such as five-time Olympic medalist Apolo Anton Ohno. By the way, Ohno is not a pro athlete, as short track speedskating is not a professional sport.

Lance would be awesome on DWTS!
