It's Thursday, also known as American Idol results show day (wait, isn't that usually Wednesday?... hush, fool, just be glad it's only on two days a week), also known as the first day in the reign of our new Top Chef (which luckily does not involve any actual responsibilities other than shilling Diet Dr. Pepper during commercial breaks with previous competitors while your eyes scream a quiet "help"), also known as Friday Eve. Hold off on your desire to race headlong into the nearest bar and quell your Thursday thirst just a little longer with these refreshing drops of news.
Our favorite drug-addled reality host Paula Abdul has said that adding a fourth judge to American Idol was not a good idea. She complained in an issue of OK! that having an additional judge disrupts the flow of the show and causes too much time to be spent on the comments. Newcomer judge Kara DioGuardi fired back by saying she was "disappointed and hurt" by Paula's comments. Luckily, Paula has now said that she wasn't referring to Kara, but to the many guest judges who appear during the season. Umm, sure Paula, whatever you say...
Seinfeld fans, take heed -- your favorite disgruntled New York funnyman is returning to television... no, not George Costanza! Jerry Seinfeld's new reality series The Marriage Ref has been picked up by NBC for the fall season, and will involve Jerry and other celebrities offering comedic advice to real-life couples in crisis. Sounds hilarious...so hilarious that Jerry had to specify that "this is not a therapy show, it's a comedy show." Therapy can be funny, Jerry, haven't you seen Celebrity Rehab? Oh well, as long as we don't have to sit through any Bee Movie 2 promos, we'll bite.
Lauren Conrad has announced that the next season of The Hills will be her last. Unfortunately, she's not as clear on whether the series will be ending after her departure, leaving us unpleasantly aware of the likelihood that Speidi could step into the power vacuum, creating a show that would literally cause viewers' brains to melt in the way that Alec Baldwin describes in his Hulu commercials. And here we thought The City was bad -- but apparently something much, much worse could be on the horizon.
Curses... it appears that the rumors of Evangeline Lilly's impending departure from Lost are not true. Guess we'll have to prepare ourselves for a final season chock full of Kate suckitude. Sigh.
Horrors! Alaskan singer-songwriter-turned-Dancing-with-the-Stars-contestant Jewel injured her knees during rehearsal for the show. Though she hasn't called it quits yet, her doctor has advised rest...which would seem to be at odds with competing on a televised dance competition. But hey, she lived in her car, she can get through this! Seriously though, weren't you more excited to see Steve Wozniak? Or Lil' Kim? Or the guy who played Samantha's frequently-naked neighbor Dante in the Sex and the City movie? Yeah, we thought so.
D'oh! The Simpsons is about to become the longest-running primetime series on television... ever! Yep, FOX has renewed the series for two more seasons, bringing the episode count up to a staggering 493.
And finally, in case you weren't sufficiently disturbed by Tom Collichio's shilling of Diet Coke during the Oscars, you will be pleased to know that Padma Lakshmi is about to star in a commercial for Hardee's Bacon Western Thickburger, whatever that is. Now all we need is for Gail Simmons to proclaim her love for Kraft-cheese-covered Nabisco Oreos topped with a heady blend of A1 and Mr. Pibb, and the apocalypse can begin.
