Happy Thursday, everybody! Gosh, remember when Thursday was Must See TV night on NBC? Yeah... it was a while ago. But guess what, nostalgia-cravers? George Clooney's (supposedly) back on ER tonight, so from the hours of 10-11PM you can pretend it's 1997 again and the world had never heard of such things as Survivor or American Idol or Celebrity Circus! Man, what did anyone watch before the year 2000?
Charlaine Harris, author of the Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire novels, has announced that the second season of True Blood will be returning on Sunday, June 14. HBO has not officially announced the premiere date, but we'll go with it... the network is pretty busy of late, what with its apologizing to the Mormon church and all.
OMG ER is ending!?!?!?!? Oh, that's why George Clooney is coming back! Boy, I really haven't been paying any attention to NBC and their constant airing of "final season" ads. Don't worry though, because it seems a spinoff starring John Stamos' character is in the works. Sigh... he's so dreamy. Oh sorry, I was thinking about Clooney again. Hey, maybe this explains why the hell NBC would bother casting Alexis Bledel as an intern in the finale episode -- could she be a part of the spinoff?
The Dancing with the Stars curse has struck again! First we find out that Gilles Marini has a separated shoulder, and in fact had it on Monday during the show. His rep, however, claims he will continue to dance his absurdly chiseled butt off. And THEN we find out this morning that Steve Wozniak has a fractured foot! But apparently he'll still be dancing too, as long as he keeps his cast on outside the show. Apparently, dancing is the most dangerous thing currently being done on television... take that, anything on the History channel/people who are afraid that one day Tyra is going to snap and actually kill an ANTM contestant for not being fierce enough!
Lots of Jericho news today... it seems Skeet Ulrich has been cast in the CBS pilot Back, about a man who disappears on September 11 and returns to his family eight years later. And for fans of the show for whom no Skeet Ulrich casting could ever be compensation enough, CBS has announced that Jericho will return as a comic book with input from the show's producers.
In other pilot news, the CW has announced that Friday Night Lights' Minka Kelly has been cast in Body Politic as a wide-eyed young lassie who comes to DC to take a job on her father the newly-appointed Attorney General's staff. Which means she'll be leaving FNL. But know what else? Logan Echolls... err, we mean Jason Dohring... has also been cast, as a Washington Post reporter! We always knew Logan had a bright future ahead of him.
And in other stars-leaving-their-current-shows-for-pilots-news, it seems Ashley Jensen may be leaving Ugly Betty after being cast in CBS' Accidentally on Purpose. Since Jensen has apparently been unhappy with Betty's move to New York, and is the only cast member who still makes the commute from LA every week, we can't say we're really surprised.
