Today's TWOP News: April 30, 2009

To celebrate the momentous news that Disney/ABC has agreed to partner with Hulu (The View reruns for everyone!...wait, is that a good thing?), let's everybody do a shot of Grey Goose along with Sumner Redstone so that we, like him, can live forever!

Exciting news from the world of legally viewable internet television, especially if you are one of the unlucky ones who can't use ABC's media player on your computer...Disney/ABC is joining Hulu! Now I'll have plenty to watch when I finish with Airwolf.

Oh look, NBC is ordering another season of The Celebrity Apprentice! That's just what TV needs, a ninth season of a reality show that was straight up played out like, last century. Pretty soon I think we are just not going to have any new TV shows. Ever. So you better start liking According to Jim and Hole in the Wall, because that's all you're going to be getting for the rest of time.

CMT has apparently found it appropriate to purchase the former NBC series The Singing Bee, because there aren't enough crappy singing competitions on that channel. Apparently they're going to get rid of the bee-costumed dancers -- I almost hate to tell them, but that's still not getting anyone to watch.

Slash is going to be the mentor on Idol next week! Plus, Daughtry is going to show up to so that Simon can yet again remind us how he should have won Season 5 and then pout.

In case you need a reason other than copious Sacha Baron Cohen nudity to go see Bruno (which I do not), it seems Paula Abdul was tricked for the film and is apparently still unaware of it. Then again, tricking Paula seems like it would be the easiest thing ever. Trick Simon and then we'll have something.

Why is there so much American Idol stuff today? According to Anoop, a troublemaking spirit named Phyllis has been seen in the mansion by several contestants and regularly keeps Allison Iraheta awake. Perhaps it's the spirit of a rejected auditionee... or of Paula's dignity.

Woohoo, The Office UK is coming to Adult Swim! That'll fit in just perfectly with Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Robot Chicken!

Sumner Redstone was on Larry King this week apparently to purge his bile duct, pronouncing that "'CSI will beat the hell out of" Jay Leno's 10 PM talk show, even though we pretty much knew that already. He also told us that he plans to live forever, which we also pretty much knew, and that his good health comes from drinking a glass of red wine and a shot of Grey Goose each day, which I did not know but plan to start implementing immediately in my own life. And so should you!

And because it wouldn't be right to leave you without a bad taste in your mouth, Jon Gosselin of Jon & Kate Plus 8 has once again been caught in an incriminating photo with a lady who is not his wife. This time, Jon makes the ridiculous assertion that he dislikes being in "the public eye," although isn't signing up to be on television kind of, you know, that? Guess what, Jon: this is why you're one of our Worst Human Beings on Reality Shows!

Rebecca, nice to see you've some great taste in classic TV shows, and especially being in the middle watching high-flying 'AIRWOLF' from the mid-80s. Regards, Mark J.Cairns, Creator, Airwolf Themes soundtrack
