Today's TWoP News: May 27, 2009

Another slow news day. I think it is going to be a very long summer for TWoP News. Is it wrong that I kind of miss the days of daily updates on whether Simon or Kara would leave American Idol, or reading stories about Paula? At least there was some Idol news today.

AT&T might have swayed the Idol voting and helped Kris win. Not entirely sure if it is true or not, but apparently it has something to do with power texting. The phone company went to some viewing parties for ultimate winner Kris Allen (but not for Adam Lambert) and showed people how to text and use a feature where they could send multiple texts. This apparently is against Idol rules... but it's a mysterious process. Personally, I think the Gokey fans had more to do with it, but what do I know?

What is it with those '70s Show people? The're all producing reality shows or whatever. First Ashton, now Wilmer Valderrama. The former Fez signed a deal with something called RelativityReal to produce shows. Is he going to start incessantly tweeting now, too?

Jennifer Westfeldt (who I've loved since Kissing Jessica Stein, and still love even though I'm totally jealous of the fact that she's the luckiest lady in the world and has Jon Hamm as her long-time BF) and John Boyd (who I'm not familiar with, but looks like a perfectly nice person and was apparently in The Lady in the Water) are joining next season's NYC-based edition of 24. Westfeldt will be playing a journalist, and Boyd's heading to CTU as an analyst.

BBC America sent out a press release yesterday announcing that they were going to add Being Human to their lineup. I don't know much about this show, but apparently a werewolf, a vampire and a ghost are all roommates... so it's pretty much my dream series. It starts July 25th. I'm setting my DVR now.

This isn't really TV-related, but if there's an opportunity to talk about Katherine Heigl acting like a diva, I am powerless to resist. Apparently she was signed up to do an ensemble film called Valentine's Day with the likes of Julia Roberts, Anne Hathaway and Jessica Biel, but she wanted more money than any of them. Seriously? Who the hell does she think she is?
