So much news about so many of my favorite shows! I've noticed that my TWoP News installments are more sci-fi centric than other people's. Is it luck that I get the good stuff, or is it just me being a massive nerd? I say both! Read on.
Could Burn Notice leave Miami? They might, if the city demolishes their headquarters. Yes, although Michael Westen can survive exploding HQs with ease, the demolition of an old expo center that has served as the offices for the show (as well as the outdoor restaurant set the characters are always drinking at) to build a new marina might force the production to pull up stakes. A crummy thing to do for the only show to film more than one season in Miami since Miami Vice, y'all. [Update: They're staying!]
Speaking of shows that Tricia Helfer guest-stars on, the new SyFy series Warehouse 13 will feature guest appearances by not one, not two, but three Battlestar Galactica alumni. Helfer will play an FBI agent, Michael "Tigh" Hogan will play the father of the main character, and Mark "Romo Lampkin" Sheppard will play a mysterious representative of the titular warehouse's owners.
The producers of Chuck don't want people to forget about them during their hiatus, so they're planning to give the show a "super-clever" assist with online content before the planned March 2010 return. Webisodes? We can only hope. Also, that March premiere date may get moved up.
Ladies and gentlemen: the cast of Celebrity Rehab Season 3: Dennis Rodman, Heidi Fleiss, America's Next Top Model contestant/rapper Lisa D'Amato, Alice in Chains member Mike Starr, country music singer Mindy McCready, ex-Miss United States Teen Kari Ann Peniche, and Real World: Hollywood cast member Joey Kovar. Actress Mackenzie Phillips will be the "sober coach" for the motley crew. But can she fill Busey's shoes?
The 12 Men of Christmas sounds like a holiday special we would never watch. But A Kristin Chenoweth Christmas? That sounds like must-squee TV. We recommend a name change.
Doctor Who's new companion is here, and she is redheaded. Scottish actress Karen Gillan will tag along with new Doctor Matt Smith next year after he takes over the role from David Tennant. Meanwhile, Tennant will finish up his run on American airwaves this year, and this time, he'll be on BBC America. The BBC's stateside sister network will air last year's Christmas Special at the end of June, and Tennant's four final TV specials as the Doctor throughout the year. Doctor Who joins British sci-fi shows Primeval, Survivors and the recently announced Being Human on the network, not to mention the returning Torchwood, whose five-part mini-series will air this July. Check out the trailer below, as it is full of awesome.
