When Brian Austin Green wisely backed out of a lucrative One Tree Hill guest stint because the internet made fun of it, I was so relieved. I know One Tree Hill has a devoted fanbase, but my god, that show is hilariously horrible, and BAG just proved himself as a very capable actor on Terminator (no really! He did!). He deserves better material than that. Which is why it struck me as odd that he just turned around and accepted a job on Smallville, a show that is not as bad as One Tree Hill, but still a show he shouldn't be doing. He's only signed up for two episodes so far, so it's not like he's on board for life, but I worry that he'll get suckered into more for the easy money, when he could be making just as easy money on a better show that won't be as damaging to his career. So, BAG, if you're reading this, here are some other shows you should send your resume to the minute you're done with those two Smallville eps.
Heroes
Admittedly not that much of a step up from Smallville, but Heroes is in need of better actors -- Cristine Rose and Jack Coleman can't do it all themselves. He could play the new hero whose super power is punching Peter and erasing the annoying from Parkman.

I love Freddie Prinze Jr. and I am all for his comeback, but c'mon -- an ex-Marine in charge of CTU's field ops? It's not exactly a perfect fit for Freddie, who I'd much rather see in lighter fare, while BAG kicked so much ass on Terminator -- on the same network -- and would be awesome at CTU. Not sure how this role slipped by him, but it's a crime.
Dollhouse
It'd probably be best to cast him as a new security guy than a doll -- maybe he's head of security at one of the other Dollhouses and he's been transferred over after the major breach that happened at the end of last season? Why am I talking so spoiler free? This aired months ago.
Fringe
David Silver and Pacey fighting mad scientists together? '90s party, come get it!
Burn Notice
I don't know if I've made this clear, but he's good at holding guns and kicking people. Plus, I heard he was really funny on Freddie, so he'd definitely be able to grasp the whimsical side of the show as Michael's new nemesis or something.
Chuck
Same reasons as Burn Notice, really. There are literally dozens of shows that are a better idea for him than Smallville. How did this happen?
Friday Night Lights
Meet the new assistant coach! He likes drinkin', fightin' and hanging out at The Landing Strip. Ew. But kind of awesome? Yes.
Supernatural
If he's so obsessed with the CW, why not pursue the best show on the network? He could play the new evil demon who hooks up with Sam now that Ruby's dead. Demon upgrade!
True Blood
I'm not sure I'd buy him as a scary vampire, but I do think he'd be good at playing one of the right wing vigilante types. Maybe he runs around Bon Temps perpetrating vampire hate crimes for a season before Eric bites his throat out while they're both shirtless? This post has taken a turn... let's get outta here.
Honorable mention goes to 90210 just because it's the most obvious thing in the world while still being a terrible idea.

I was nodding along, agreeing with all of these, but ... that last one? That needs to happen. Especially the shirtless part.
Love Smallville and I think BAG is an awesome addition. I'm hopeful that he will stay on longer that 2-eps.
Almost think he'd make a better hunter than demon on Supernatural. Though I have no idea which one would get him killed faster . . .
Smallville is shit, but it's a show for kids and masochists so I wouldn't be too judgemental. At least he is guaranteed to NOT be too annoying on the show where they have Erica Durance in the annoyment department.
Agree with everything here except that Smallville is a better show than OTH. True, they both suck, and I have a great tolerance for suckitude, but even i couldn't handle the level of suck Smallville devolved into. and it didn't start off that great. At least OTH has some good actors in it - Smallville's one great actor left a while ago. (And no, I'm not talking about Kristin Kreuk) - don't get me wrong, Allison Mack was also awesome, but Michael Rosenbaum was the reason I held on for 4.5 seasons before the the writers decided pairing the best actor/character and the worst actor/character on the show was a good idea. I don't love BAG enough to suffer through any more Smallville. I would have rather seen him on OTH, which despite its suckitude, is NOWHERE near as bad as Smallville. But speaking of Supernatural, they should be casting someone as Lucifer. Think BAG could pull it off? Dollhouse would also be awesome.
Mindy, every one of your suggestions was AWESOME! I would especially enjoy him on Burn Notice, Chuck, or True Blood. Why don't TPTB let you run Hollywood?
Dude, run away from Smallville, far far away. It's a sinking ship run by creatively bankrupt idiots. Just NO.
Great list :D
Now that you mention it, I'd love to see him on SPN if he had to be doing something, let him be a hunter/angel/demon. Actually, the idea of him in the Dollhouse or in Bon Temps are also great. I don't get it. He reinvented himself well as a ass-kicker and action hero and did do it believably and now he's gonna sink it all in the most hated, worst, and most mocked show on a the worst, most mocked, and hated "network" on TV. I know times are tough, but this is going to cancel out everything T:SCC did for him.
RUN, Brian, run!
I don't think Smallville will hurt his career that much. Hardly anyone watches it anymore. He'll do his time and collect his paycheck almost unnoticed.
I'm totally with Liz. Eric + BAG - shirts = awesome. Is there a petition we could sign?
This is not a good fit. They lost Michael Rosenbaum and Sam Witwer, who is actually an amazing Julliard trained actor able to elevate the material he is given, did a decent job filling the void, and worked great off of Allison Mack and Tom Welling. Except for the Sam Witwer parts, S8 was a mess. BAG is not on the same level as an actor to rise above the material. He's just going to be pulled down by the downward momentum of Smallville. He needs to run away from this job as fast as he can.
Actually, I vote for Body Politic... You know, the new show he was actually cast in? The CW still might pick it up midseason. I saw some clips of the pilot; it actually looks decent. BAG would be playing an aid to the president.
Wow, I used "actually" three times in five sentences. That's sad.
I much rather see him in 24 than Freddie Prinze Jr (Sarah Michelle Gellar is behind his hiring or what ? just odd casting seriously) and above all face to the delicious Katee Sackhoff
I want a David/Donna reunion on 90210 and I'm not ashamed to admit it!
Truer words could not be spoken...
seriously though folks, who knew back in 1990 that we'd even be debating this?
Okay, stop it. One Tree Hill is a good show, with strong writing and good characters. It's much better than 90210, or much of the other crap on the CW. And Smallville sucks, just sucks, and it's the writing, not the actors, so stop blaming them. Be sad they can't seem to rise above it, but that's not their fault either. The people in charge spent so much freaking time on Lame-a, they hurt everyone else, character and story-wise. And I don't care how "good" BAG is, let him find his own show.
Oh lord, you people are acting like BAG is some sort of REAL actor. This dude sucks from every aspect of acting. The only good thing about him is his relationship with Megan Fox, beyond that NOTHING!!! He makes Pauley Shore look like an Oscar winner.
Love the suggestions for BAG. As I see it, I'm glad he picked a couple eps of Smallville over a much longer OTH commitment. It doesn't mess with his role on Body Politic if we're lucky enough to see it picked up mid-season. And, if it doesn't, he can continue going for other roles - build up his 'more current' resume and maybe add some more variety in there too.
