BLOGS
Tonight's episode of Burn Notice features a guest appearance by Terminator: Salvation star Moon Bloodgood as a police detective, and she's only the latest in a long string of spies, killers, cons and lawmen who have come through Miami with a bone to pick with Michael Westen. It's only going to get worse from here on out, what with Michael losing his protection and all, so we thought we'd run down some of our favorites, specifically those that we already knew and loved from other TV shows. This list will self-destruct.
John Mahoney ("Management")
If you need to call in a cranky authority figure, one who knows better than you and wants you to know that he does, you get John Mahoney. Sure, he played the lovable dad on Frasier, but the man is no pushover. If we were trapped in a helicopter with him and his disapproving gaze, we'd jump out, too.
Tricia Helfer ("Carla")
Our favorite Battlestar Galactica alum popped up throughout Season 2 as Michael's new handler, giving him assignments and warning him not to stray too far from the path she set. It took her sniping Victor to show she meant business, but luckily Fiona was standing by to return the favor.
Andrew Divoff ("Ivan")
When Michael needed inside information about a Russian sex-slave ring, he adopted a Russian accent and locked himself inside a cell with captured slaver Ivan (a.k.a. Mikhail, the Russian Other from Lost). A few pretend beatings from Sam convinced Ivan that Michael was a comrade, and he spilled the beans. Sorry, Ivan -- you got punked.
Silas Weir Mitchell ("Seymour")
In Miami? Need advanced, military-grade weaponry? Contact Seymour, and he'll hook you up. If you're Michael, he'll even invite you to his pool party. Seymour likes to think of himself as Michael's BFF, which is a little off-putting considering Mitchell's crazy eyes, put to such good use as "Haywire" on Prison Break.
Michael Shanks ("Victor")
Victor was CIA until his family was killed, and Carla convinced him to go rogue and come work for Management. Then it turns out Carla killed his family. And then she killed him, too. Man, stuff like this never happened back when he was on Stargate SG-1. (Oh, wait, it did.)
Tim Matheson ("Larry Sizemore")
Larry is Michael's former mentor. Larry is also crazy. Now freelance, Larry kills people for money, and tries to hire Michael to do a job, but when Michael tries to warn off the victim, Larry takes the money anyway, kills the guy who hired him and vanishes. That's not very Vice-Presidential of you, former West Wing star Tim Matheson. Larry may or may not return this season, but Matheson will definitely be directing episodes of the show.
Lucy Lawless ("Evelyn")
At first, Evelyn seemed to be a mother trying to find her kidnapped son, but when Michael tracked down her wayward husband, Evelyn tried to pop a cap in his ass. Angry mom? Or paid assassin using Michael to find her target? Unfortunately, the latter. She seemingly fell to her death while trying one last time to fulfill her contract, but she may not be dead after all, since sources (Bruce Campbell sources!) say she'll return this season. Lucy Lawless: unkillable Warrior Princess, or endlessly copied Cylon? You be the judge!
Mark Pellegrino ("Quinten")
More of a con man than an actual spy, Quinten was targeted by Michael because he'd conned a friend of Michael's mom. But Michael might have thought twice if he'd known that he was tangling with Jacob, the mysterious patron saint of the island on Lost. Don't let him give you a candy bar, Michael!
Who's your favorite Burn Notice guest star? Say Method Man!

Hope Anthony Starke comes back if they are bringing back Lucy Lawless; love to see more of him on the show.
"Michael Shanks ("Victor")
Victor was CIA until his family was killed, and Carla convinced him to go rogue and come work for Management. Then it turns out Carla killed his family. Man, stuff like this never happened back when he was on Stargate SG-1."
You evidently never watched Stargate SG-1. Daniel (Michael Shanks)'s parents were killed in a museum accident; his wife was taken over by a Goa'uld, impregnated by the main Goa'uld's host, gave birth to the guy's kid; the kid ascended to a higher plain of existence; a former girlfriend was taken over by a Goa'uld; Daniel died several times himself -- I keep hoping that Victor will return from the jaws of death. Hey, if they can bring back Lucy Lawless after falling off a building, there's always reason to hope, right?
Lucy Lawless returning to Burn Notice???? Oh my god please let this be true.
Tricia Helfer's run was in Season 2, not 3. We just started Season 3, mmmkay?
Didn't get the fervor over Tricia Helfer at all. Not impressed. When she showed up on CHUCK I had to yell at the TV in disgust. She didn't impress me there either.
What about Alex Carter ("Jason Bly?") Who made fun of Michel's pink shirts?
Love everyone on this list, but Bly is my favorite guest character by far. He has such style, and watching him team up with Michael last season was the highlight of an already fantastic set of episodes. Love to see him back sometime! (And often!)
Yeah! Jason Bly! I didn't like the actor so much on CSI classic, but he rose to the occasion to be Bly. That trapped-in-the-bank episode from last season is my favorite.
What about the oter West Wing Alum Richard Schiff? As Toby he never had to face a sniper bullet coming from a building across the way. Oh wait, he did.
Please don't bring Lucy Lawless back. As much as I love Lucy, her character is dead. Please, just let her stay that way.
Dina Meyer anyone? Hello? In her underwear no-less!
Hey, Nell, I'm fairly sure the paranthetical comment on SG-1 was there BEFORE you "corrected" him. It's called snark for a reason, people.
(Oh, wait, it did.)
I think you forgot to read this part, Nell.
Richard Schiff!
Hey, bring on Crockett and Tubbs!
So far, most of the guest stars in this show are awesome. I can't wait to see more of them.
Evelyn is coming back??? Wow, how? She's dead, right?
I love Jason Bly. He and Michael are great frenemies!
I gotta agree about Jason Bly. He is so deliciously snarky to Michael.
