MTV's Turning Teen Wolf Into a Series, and I Think That's Just Great At first glance, the idea of MTV adapting Teen Wolf into a dramatic television series looks like a pretty dumb idea. First of all, they've got an audience of 12-year-olds who have never heard of the movie, so there goes your built-in nostalgia support. And then there's the issue that remakes are often terrible and unnecessary, and of all people to do justice to a campy '80s classic, MTV is hardly the paragon of quality and creativity to be tackling such a mission. All true things. But I kinda think it's a good idea, despite all of that.

While it's certainly safe to say that MTV probably doesn't know what the hell they're doing in regard to scripted television, one could argue that there are people involved with the project who do. The executive producers worked on Prison Break, The 4400 and Deep Space Nine, which is something, even though the head writer has only written Criminal Minds, which is terrible. But that doesn't matter that much! What I'm saying is they brought in some outside people who have done this before, rather than just being like, "Hey, you! Guy in charge of Bully Beatdown! Write this werewolf basketball show!" So it could be worse.

Plus, werewolves are totally the new vampires -- even Twilight says so. So at least there's some sort of a zeitgeist-y hook I can understand. And the subject matter lends itself to drama. I'd be a drama queen if I turned into a wolf in the middle of my basketball game and the whole school saw. So would you. So would anybody. It would be so upsetting and embarrassing, and it would not at all make you a popular jock like it did in the movie! A series could rectify this.

So yeah, I'm going to watch and probably love this show when it happens, even though it will have a nightmare soundtrack of Asher Roth and 3Oh!3 and other music I'm too damn old to understand, and Audrina will probably make a cameo. It's MTV's world, I'm just lovin' werewolves in it, after all.

But seriously, how awesome would it be if they did it mockumentary style and just called it, True Life: I Hate My Lycanthropy? It would be bring so much awareness to the issue! Audrina could set up a foundation!
