A lot of reality TV news here, from new episodes of I Get That a Lot (a show that's kind of like Punk'd, but not) to a new series that documents people battling a disease (whaaat?!). There's also a mandatory update on Jon & Kate, as well as some interesting statistics.
I guess there's no better way for celebrities to draw even more attention to themselves than by pretending to be an average person like the rest of us. For Heidi Klum, that means flipping pizza dough at Joe's Pizza, being obnoxious to customers and seeking career advice as a stripper. Now you can check out more celebrities acting dumb or ditzy in real life because CBS is ordering three more editions of I Get That a Lot.
Wow...networks must really be struggling to find new material to air. First it's I Get That a Lot, and now VH1 is picking up a new series that focuses on people battling with OCD. Yes, a spotlight on people battling with a disorder, as long as its categorized as "pop culture," will surely generate more viewership.
And speaking of reality TV, American Idol is hosting auditions for season 9. I know you're all eagerly waiting for the next round of Simon Cowell's biting remarks. I'm sure we'll hear more than enough -- especially since 7,000 American Idol hopefuls braved the rain and cold (I thought it was supposed to be summer) in Massachusetts at the first round of auditions.
Jon and Kate celebrated their 10-year anniversary. Apart. There was an outdoor barbecue and even a bouncy house for the kids, but Jon was nowhere to be seen. This is getting really depressing. It's not even entertaining anymore. Just sad. TLC should be ashamed!
After watching Conan O'Brien kick off The Tonight Show by running across the country, viewers have since deserted him (...guilty). A week after his debut, the number of viewers fell by half. Let's hope things will look up for Conan.
Controversial issues have always been a marketing ploy in upping people's interest, which means higher viewer numbers, which means more moolah. The same holds true for Nurse Jackie -- a show about a nurse who forgoes any kind of moral decency. Nurses in real life have found the show appalling -- a good thing, since Nurse Jackie captured the biggest audience of any series premiere in Showtime's history.
