I thought there wasn't anything exciting today, but as turns out, there's a good medley of news. A popular '90s series is coming out on DVD, there's a new legal dramedy about two rival sisters, and for all you alien-lovin' fans, there are two new sci-fi series. There's more, so keep reading.
If you love kooky and eccentric lawyers -- you're in luck. The super-thin, quirky and complete klutz of a lawyer, Ally McBeal, is coming back to the screen, creepy digital dancing baby included. The first season and the complete series of Ally McBeal are coming to DVD and can be pre-ordered from Amazon. Now we can all watch the Cage & Fish lawyers hard at work in between the fantasy sequences, wishful thinking and icky fetish scenes.
Wait, there's more legal dramedy news! Dark-haired beauties Liza Minnelli and Delta Burke will play dueling sisters in Lifetime's upcoming series Drop Dead Diva. Liza will play a psychic who takes her sister to court for opening a competing psychic shop across the street. Drop Dead Drama is more like it.
The head honchos behind TV networks are probably feeling good about themselves right now. The ratings came in this week, and many networks showed year-best results, including NBC's America's Got Talent, TLC's Jon & Kate Plus Eight, and Sunday's BET Awards topping the charts. Believe it or not, even the Disney channel of all channels raked in 8.53 million viewers for Disney's original movie Princess Protection Program. Yeah, I'm confused about that one too.
I hear that aliens are the new vampires. That may be the case, especially since Sci-Fi (or "SyFy" as of next week -- don't even get me started on the new spelling) is creating a fresh take on Alien Nation. The new series will focus on a cop and his alien partner set against the backdrop of alien newcomers who were banished as slaves. I think we're supposed to feel sorry for the aliens.
TNT is jumping on board with the new alien fetish. In Steven Spielberg's new sci-fi series, ER veteran Noah Wyle leads a pack of soldiers and civilians, searches for human survivors, and battles an alien force. Aaaand I think we're supposed to hate the aliens in this one.
The lovable SuBo will not be appearing at Mode magazine alongside Betty Suarez and the motley crew of editors on Ugly Betty, despite rumors to the contrary. ABC reps say the rumor is "entirely false." I guess spreading rumors is part of Perez Hilton's job description.
It seems like everyone is turning to reality TV to make an easy buck. SoapNet is adapting the unscripted BBC series Bank of Mom and Dad, which follows parents who move in with their kids and exert influence over financial matters. This inevitably causes conflict and well, drama. Nothing new there. Yawn.
