You know when summer is coming to an end when all your favorite (or not so favorite) summer shows get picked up for another season. There's everything about these renewals in the news from Playboy ladies to divas (live ones!), to assistants and warriors, so read on!
The most famous of Hef's former girlfriends will be getting more screen time. E! is picking up a second season of Kendra's reality show. I personally thought The Girls Next Door had more depth (which is saying a lot) and was far more interesting than Kendra, but hey, who am I to deny what the public wants.
And another reality show that has found even more success than Kendra -- yes, believe it -- has also been renewed. After a successful summer with an average of 8.8 million viewers, ABC has picked up a third season of Wipeout for next year.
All things come in threes, so they say, because another reality show got renewed. Spike has picked up Deadliest Warrior for a second season come spring. Though not nearly as popular as Wipeout, averaging at about 1.8 million viewers (on cable though, so still, pretty kick ass numbers), it is believed that this historical-warrior-dueling-show can "stand on its own" and there is talk of expanding the show to include merchandise. Keep a lookout, fanboys.
VH1 Divas is back from its four-year hiatus after featuring true divas during its six-year run, including Whitney Houston, Cher, and Mariah Carey, to name a few. Now, the divas are back -- well, not really. The Divas franchise will mark its return with a concert showcasing performances from a "younger crop of singers," like Adele, Kelly Clarkson, Leona Lewis and Miley Cyrus. If by younger, you mean, the tween dream, then yes, VH1, you have achieved your goal.
So, Jamie-Lynn Sigler came up for air between make-out sessions with Turtle and landed herself another gig. She is replacing Betty's former position in Ugly Betty and will be Daniel's new and sexy assistant. Prospective love interest, maybe? Uh oh. Daniel might revert back to his playboy pre-Molly days. Good thing Betty will be there to keep him grounded.
History was never my forte, but I know a hot TV role when I see one. Nip/Tuck star Joely Richardson will play the last wife of Henry VIII in the fourth and final season of The Tudors. But we'll just have to wait until spring 2010 to see the chemistry between Henry and Catherine Parr.
