How Did Kendra Turn Out So Terrible? As a huge fan of The Girls Next Door, naturally I was looking forward to enjoying Kendra Wilkinson's dumbass laugh on its own show. But now we're only a handful of episodes into the first season, and I'm already bored. Not that I never got bored of Girls Next Door -- I definitely did -- but at least it took me a few seasons with that show. So what went wrong with Kendra?

It can't just be that she isn't very interesting, even though that's definitely true. Most people on docudramas aren't very interesting. Hardly ever stops me from being enthralled. And the same argument could be made for how stupid she is. Stupid is ordinarily fantastic television! Basically, I think the show is suffering from two major problems: First of all, very annoying situations are egregiously staged. Her little stylist friend who brought her a French whore outfit while only Hank was home? So fake. And also a terrible scene. And the signed Playboy she gave Hank's parents the first time she met them? That reeks of producer meddling. We all know every "reality" show does this, but Kendra's a terrible actress and these stunts always come off so disingenuous, and they happen constantly.

The other major problem for me is that I just miss Holly. Even when The Girls Next Door's formula was so tired, and Hef just got creepier and creepier and they all clearly were just bored employees of Playboy, Holly always brought the desperate scheming to make up for it. Kendra's friends are hot, but they don't have the personalities Bridget and Holly had. You can only watch Kendra laugh her ass off while running around topless as her entourage vapidly smiles approvingly in the corner so many times before it's just not compelling anymore, you know? And that's literally all that happens on this show. Plus, my god, can this woman get over her Hef obsession already? Cut the goddamn geriatric money cord.

And this isn't a reason to not like the show, but I still want to address it -- Crappiest. Opening. Credits. Ever! Why, Too Short? Why? Seriously, I could make a better opening sequence on my bootleg Photoshop's animation feature, and I'm an idiot with zero design training or experience. Get it together, E!'s opening credits people!

But it's not all bad. Hank's an endearing dreamboat. I'll give the show that.

Here's one of the five trillion times Kendra has been topless for no reason while her friends think it's great, if you haven't seen the show:
