I think it is also hypocritical for TWOP to continue to have stories on this show when they chose to shut down the forums on it some time ago. For what? The sake of the kids? Then why continue to report on it?

I haven't seen this show since the second season but I used to love it then. It's been really disheartening to see everything come crashing around.

But I do want to say something about Kate. While anyone has to admit that she is controlling...I think that sometimes it isn't a bad thing. When you have eight kids to take care of, being overly in control of the situation may be the only way to actually get things done. Also, from what I've heard she also does keep strict control over the crew and filming schedules and all that, which probably is the best way to have things going on and minimize the disruption (for example, I believe filming is only done two days a week).

Anyway, that's my two cents. Yes, she's controlling, but it can be a stength as well as a weakness (and I don't have much sympathy for Jon because he knew this before he married her).

Do you not remember many of the stupid, hurtful things Kate said to the kids in the past. Think about it, PEOPLE.

I don't really agree with this statement. TWOP moderators seem to be petty and arbitrary about what they deem people can or cannot say about a show. I've seen worse off topic and redundant comments in other TWOP forums.

I've run afoul of the TWOP mods in the past; in their minds, they tend to become All-Powerful Dictators of the Tiny Realms of Their Threadoms.

However, any thread about Jon and Kate+The Cutest Golden Horde You Ever Saw devolves into pretty much what you described. The posts from the devout Christians are the best as far as producing the most yuks.

I too have been a victim of the Napoleonic moderators once because I had the gall to use this ..... too much but I agree that the forum continually devolved into "who will think of the children?" and that's just boring.
People who have no experience with nurses or nursing always believe it was the arrival of the sextuplets that made Kate into a control freak. That's bs. ALL good nurses are born control freaks that maintain incredibly high organizational skills throughout their lives. The addition of children just put those traits to the forefront.
She was a freak to start with but she was a happy, loving and openly affectionate freak when they first starting dating and when their twins were born. Jon was thrilled with his life according to every comment he has ever made and the videos and pictures made before the arrival of the sextuplets.
He was a happy guy but she wouldn't accept that he didn't want anymore children. He liked his job and liked that she worked part time to release her control freak tendencies. They were happy.
Kate chose to change that. Not only did she choose to have another child but she refused to have reduction when it was discovered that seven embryos had successfully implanted.
She forced this guy into a corner and she kept pushing him harder and harder for four years while belittling and insulting him when he couldn't meet her standards. Hell, no one alive could meet her standards, she can't even maintain those standards.
The really sad thing was she seemed completely aware of what she was doing and it obviously upset her but she just couldn't seem to stop her behaviour. You could see him distancing himself further and further away from her and you could see she knew it was happening but she just couldn't shut her mouth.
She was so self destructive but it came from fear, control freaks are almost always children raised in chaos and conflict and this need to control is a defensive skill developed for surviving.
Kate needed therapy years ago when she first started showing worsening signs of anxiety and needing to control the uncontrollable. Unfortunately her behaviour made the only person who wanted to help so pissed off at her he needed therapy himself.
I do not think Jon's a bad guy, everyone has their breaking point and she broke him. He is a bit crazy right now because Kate has always been his rock and he is as adrift as she is.
It's all just sad.
Hopefully someone has arranged for therapy for all the kids so they have a safe place to talk about how they feel. The older girls have witnessed their mother going after their father for years and this will affect how they view both of them and how they will interact with men themselves as they grow up. God forbid they grow up thinking what their mother said and did to their dad was ok or what their father did when he finally left was ok. The younger kids are at huge risk of believing they are at fault for the end of their parents marriage and that needs to be acknowledged and corrected early and often.

Well. Reading the responses to this article it is pretty obvious why the JK8 thread got closed. This show really is the perfect Rorsharch test on personal attitudes toward American family life. And there is always the occasional poster who feels perfectly free to make barely hidden racist comments about the color of the children. Golden Horde? You should be ashamed. Anyway, it's all fascinating. Some of the posters seem more dysfunctional than J&K they complain so loudly about. As for the new episodes, I don't find them boring. All right, kitchen remodeling was a little much. But I love watching those little kids grow up, especially Aedan. They are such funny little people together.
