The Project Runway All-Star Challenge Was Fixed, Yet Somehow Enjoyable OK, I don't know for a fact that it was fixed, and I do love Daniel V (and was rooting for him going in! I can prove it!) but c'mon -- Tim Gunn wrote the intro to Daniel's book, the show has been beaten up endlessly for not granting him the win during his season, and aside from that glorious black dress (truly -- I would kill to wear that dress), his other three looks were not better than anybody's. Maybe the fashion experts saw something I couldn't, as perusing Vogue once a month during a pedicure and occasionally glancing at Women's Wear Daily over some girl's shoulder on the subway in the morning doesn't really certify me (or you) as a fashion expert, but the fact remains that he strapped a pretend bomb to a girl's mid-section, and put a Danskin-looking jogging top on another one paired with an uneven bubble mini and beat everyone. Somehow. Somehow called shenanigans.

But, if anybody had to get a knee-jerk, undeserved win, at least it was someone I love (and, more specifically, not Jeffrey). And though Korto had a point (her pieces were gorgeous, as they always are), she's an embarrassingly sore loser. You are an adult, lady! Unsportsmanlike conduct! But, you know, she had a point.

Stray observations:

-- First of all, Jeffrey's ironic mustache. We get it: you're insufferable. We knew that before you grew that thing on your smug face and went outside to show it to the world. That'll do, Jeffrey. That'll do.
-- Santino is such a piece of transparently fake bullshit I can't even believe it. He's like the Spencer Pratt of sewing. Ass.
-- Chris March had me very worried. He's so obese he can't even remain conscious! Don't die, Chris March!
-- I know everybody's not a fan, but I'm a huge one, so I wished Christian had been there. But he's busy. I understand.
-- Everybody going riot case at the restaurant was awesome television.
-- How did Lifetime manage to keep Austin Scarlett and Malan Breton away from this thing? Can you imagine how many times those two must have called? They're probably still calling.
-- That little moment where Tim Gunn chided Daniel for his fake bomb material and they giggled was so damn cute I had to re-watch it thrice.
-- And finally, I know the cast was announced long beforehand, so there really wasn't any danger of it, but really glad we didn't have to put up with any Kenley tugboat nonsense.

Overall, I think the show was a success, despite the outcome. It really was enjoyable to see most of these guys again, especially after going without Runway for so long, and the challenge to create four looks felt like it was big enough to warrant the two-hour running time. It wasn't perfect, but it was grand fanfare for the show's long-awaited return.

Your thoughts? On Jeffrey's mustache?
