If you woke up this morning wondering what you missed while you were watching Cartman get anally probed, today's the day for you, my friend. All that and more is in today's news, including a very special guest BSG rant from TwoP's very own Angel Cohn.
A few months ago, there was news that Glen A. Larson was going to create a Battlestar Galactica movie that would not necessarily be based on the old series, or the recent critically lauded series, but be a complete reimagining. I was skeptical. But now Bryan Singer (who produced a couple of decent X-Men movies before he decided to make Superman Returns into a boring, disappointing event) is at the helm, and determined to put his own distinctive stamp on Starbuck, Apollo and Adama. I'm dreading this already, but at least it appears that it will be its own entity and not in the recent BSG continuity with a new director in charge. So that's something. Sorta. The big question: Is Starbuck going to be a guy again? -- Angel Cohn
After all the controversy over the abortion episode, the live reading of which you can watch here, Family Guy has decided to mix things up a little - with Republicans. In an episode next season, Brian will go conservative and Rush Limbaugh and Karl Rove will guest star as themselves. I wonder what they'll say now that Stewie has been outed as an angry gay man - err, baby.
The Office was made into an opera in the UK. One point to the Brits for keepin' it classy.
The only thing hotter than a Web series these days is a Web series prequel. A 10-episode series following the Monk brothers' childhood antics, creatively titled Little Monk, will debut during a new TV episode on August 21. Aaron Linker will play the young Adrian Monk, despite how hilarious it would be if they tried to make Tony Shalhoub look like a prepubescent teen.
Way back in 1997 when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth, South Park premiered with the episode "Cartman Gets an Anal Probe." Over a decade later, we get to see the forrealz original pilot with by-hand animation and 4 minutes of unseen footage. Watch it now before it expires in a month!
Comedy Central has decided to cancel Reno 911! . But for those of you who can't get enough of that politically incorrect humor, not all is lost - creators Tom Lennon and Ben Garant are already working on a new show with a different network.
Kate Winslet is set to star in a five-hour miniseries adaptation of James M. Cain's Mildred Pierce. Supposedly the original film starring Joan Crawford was incredible, but I for one am always on board for anything that involves Kate making me bawl like a baby.
Next summer will be the last season of TNT's Saving Grace, but that's okay because Fox is in talks to pick up a new cop drama called Billy Stiles. We could probably live without another one of these, but Denzel Washington might be an executive producer, so we won't complain if there just so happens to be a guest appearance.
