It's all about the new show developments today, and there's something for everyone, from bros to literary buffs. Some fabulous females are newly cast on shows, not including Paula Abdul, who continues to plague us with her bizarre sense of self-entitlement. Oh, and if you happen to spot that guy from Megan Wants a Millionaire, ball up your fists, keep those pearly whites hidden and call the cops, ASAP.
HBO is adapting Cormac McCarthy's play The Sunset Limited, and guess who signed on as the director, executive producer and star? Tommy Lee Jones, of course, because the Harvard grad is only McCarthy's biggest celebrity fanboy. Samuel L. Jackson also stars, and basically this project has awesome written all over it.
A couple more shows are in the works, too. From the writers of Prison Break, Fox's Break Out Kings is a New York City drama about a group of former fugitives recruited to be U.S. marshals. And FX will continue its new comedy obsession with The League, a laffer about a group of guys playing fantasy football. Let the brofest commence.
And with the brand-new comes the continuation of the new-ish. Warehouse 13 and Drop Dead Diva have both been renewed for second seasons. [I smell crossover! - Zach]
Don't expect to see much of Megan Wants a Murderer -- er, Millionaire any time soon. The show is on pause now that contestant Ryan Alexander Jenkins was officially charged with killing his wife after her body was found stuffed in a suitcase in the trash. Oh, and she had no fingers or teeth. Sure, you have to assume that the people on these shows are a little weird, but hasn't anyone ever heard of a background check?!
Paula Abdul continues to be entirely disposable, as Ugly Betty has already replaced her with Kristen Johnson (3rd Rock from the Sun), who will probably (definitely) be way funnier and not demand a private jet. Good deal!
The long-awaited DVD release of Small Wonder is finally happening! I've never seen this show, but apparently it's about a robot and people really liked it, so that's cool.
Shelley Long is joining the cast of Modern Family as Dede, the ex-wife of Jay (played by Ed O'Neill). I'm really starting to love this blast-from-the-past cast. Say that three times fast.
Despite MJ's death, A&E's reality show about the Jackson brothers will still air, and will now focus on how the family is coping with their loss. And this is supposed to be entertaining?
The season 9 trailer for Smallville is up. There's no point in summarizing the minute-long clip, so go see for yourself!
