BLOGS
Everybody's favorite new show, Glee, is now in full swing, with new episodes and everything. To promote tonight's brand new episode, Jane Lynch gave a conference call with the worldwide blogosphere to talk about what it's like working on the show, and to give some spoilers about her character, evil Cheerios coach Sue Silvestri. Here are the highlights of the call! Jane Lynch: It was amazing. People were really thrilled about it, and it seemed as the time went on, they got even more, like, whipped up into a fever pitch, and people couldn't wait for it to come back. I think that, of course, the risk you take is that you lose some audience, but I think we actually not only gained audience, but we solidified the fans that we had and made them even more excited for the episode last night.
Are we going to get to see any of Sue's personal life? Does she have some kind of a love interest?
JL: Yes, there will be a little bit going on. I don't want to give anything away, but her heart will be touched by somebody, and we learn a little bit about her family life and, perhaps, she's humanized a little bit, but then, of course, that quickly goes away because she returns to her wicked ways. We're going to see, you know, she's not going to be giving out a lot of hugs this season, but we're going to see her heart is actually affected by somebody, and she suffers a little bit of heartache.
Will we ever see Sue sing?
JL: We don't in the first 13, however, I do dance. I dance a Lindy Hop with Matt Morrison who plays Will Schuester, the teacher of the glee club.
What numbers do you think Sue would sing?
JL: I'd like to do "Rose's Turn" from Gypsy.
You mentioned that Sue will do whatever it takes to win. What's the one thing this season that Sue does that surprised you?
JL: Let me think. What did I do? That's a really good question and without giving too much away... what did she do? Oh, God, that's such a good question. Well, she turned the kids in the glee club against each other, and by separating them by race, disability, color, kind of tried to make them hate each other for their differences.
Will we ever see you in a different outfit other than your tracksuit? Will you get to wear a dress or maybe a pair of tuxedo pants?
JL: You will see me in zoot suit for a short moment.
The cast is all so young and fresh-faced. What's the biggest difference between working with them and movie veterans?
JL: Well, they're extremely excited to be here. They know that they're on a very special ride, and it's probably going to be the ride of their life. They don't take anything for granted. They work really hard, and it's really great to watch. God, I would've loved to have had something like this when I was their age.
