Today's TWoP News: September 2, 2009

Marty comes to HBO, Megan Mullally plays a mom, Ms. Moon Frye reminisces, Mister Rogers gets memorialized and Mad Men stay mad. This TWoP News is brought to you by the letter "M."

To kick things off, Mad Men has been renewed for a fourth season. Husbands, you may resume cheating on your wives.

Martin Scorcese is producing a period crime drama for HBO about 1920s Atlantic City. I wasn't that interested until I heard who would be playing the crime boss: Steve frickin' Buscemi. I'm setting my VCR, because this show deserves actual videotape.

In American Idol news, Avril Lavigne and Katy Perry will both act as judges for the Los Angeles callback auditions. They will also give lessons on how to be shocking. And, in other news, everything is coming up Gokey, as Danny Gokey becomes the last member of last season's top four to get a recording contract from the show's label, an AI first.

Further taking the load off of Kristen Wiig, SNL has added another pair of ladies to the cast: Nasim Pedrad, who played Nurse Suri on ER, and Jenny Slate, who plays Jimmy Fallon's assistant on Late Night's show-within-a-show 7th Floor West. Both also do comedy.

"Hey, where can I find five 'sneak peaks' of Gossip Girl?" Nowhere, because there is no such thing as a "sneak peak." Mountains do not sneak up on people. However, there are five "sneak peeks" here, including Nate meeting his new foe Bree.

Filling the Jane Lynch-shaped hole in Season Two of Party Down is Megan Mullally, who will play a small-town divorcee who moves to LA to help her 13-year-old daughter Escapade (yes, Escapade) make it as an actress. Well, we'd rather have her there than on Glee.

In brief: Mister Rogers is getting a statue. Soleil Moon Frye dressed like Punky Brewster because she hit 1,000,000 followers on Twitter. Rachel Bilson will be a judge on tomorrow's Project-- wait a minute, Soleil Moon Frye has 1,000,000 followers? Wow. That makes my 297 a lot less impressive.

To me Martin S means Martin Short & Marty means Scorcese.
