Good news, everyone! A show has been canceled and un-canceled, another has been re-titled, another remade, and a book adapted! That last one might not be such good news, but we remain ever optimistic! O frabjous day! Callooh callay!

In the saddest bit of news I've learned all day, British dinosaur show and BBC America import Primeval was canceled three months ago. Fortunately, I learned about it while reading the happiest bit of news I've read all day, that Primeval has been saved from cancellation. BBC American and UKTV will finance another 13 episodes of people running from prehistoric monsters to begin airing in 2011. By then, the time portals will have begun appearing for real, and the show will be reclassified as a documentary.

In the wake of some kind of falling out between Jon and Kate -- I don't really know the details, myself -- the show Jon & Kate Plus 8 will be retitled Kate Plus 8. Maybe her haircut could get in on that action? Kate and her Anime-Style Bangs Plus 8 has a nice ring to it.

It's been announced that AMC's remake of The Prisoner will air over three nights, two hours per night, starting on November 15. Jim Caviezel stars as a man held prisoner in a strange village, with Ian McKellen as the controller. The original 1967 series starring Patrick McGoohan can be seen for free on AMC's Website.

Tempting fate, or simply not caring any more now that he's seen death and beaten it back with nothing but stubbornness and rock music, Stephen King has agreed to turn one of his novellas into an hourlong series. The series is called Haven, and is about a Maine town where cursed folk try to live normal lives, and an FBI agent is called in when the curses start acting up. It certainly sounds interesting, even if it's miles from the actual plot of The Colorado Kid, the murder-mystery novella being adapted. The book is set on an island in Maine where the body of a Colorado man is found on a beach, and no one knows why he came there or who killed him, although curses are not really discussed, so who knows. The producers and writers are all from The Dead Zone, though, so maybe this won't be a total wash.

And in other news, Jon Hamm has to buy his own Mad Men DVDs. Scandalous!
