How I Met Your Mother: Season 4
In the four years of cock-teasing this show has foisted upon us, Season 4 had the second-biggest tease, but it also managed to come through on some of its teasery. Second only to the Robin debacle was the near-Mothering of Stella, who left Ted at the altar at the beginning of this season. One might also say the tease of Ted ever becoming a successful architect was also put to rest here, as he accepted a teaching position by season's end. But we were thrown a bone in the Barney-Robin relationship, which culminated in a kiss in the season finale and still seems to be going strong. But tease or no tease, it's still one of the funniest shows on television. You bought Big Bang Theory last week, right? Well, here's your bookend.

Foyle's War: Series 1-5
Even when there's a war on, there's still crime. In this series of British telefilms, Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle solves murders and ends war profiteering committed in and around Hastings, England, between 1940 and 1945, and now you can own the first six seasons (packaged as five "sets" in the U.S.) -- 19 movies total -- in one handy 19-disc set. Starring Michael Kitchen as Foyle, Honeysuckle Weeks as his driver Sam and Julian Ovenden as Foyle's pilot son Andrew, which means we get the occasional batch of RAF banter. "Cabbage crates coming over the briny!"

Life on Mars: The Complete Series
Not the British series, the American one. So this is one glorious season of Harvey Keitel wearing vintage clothing and Michael Imperioli wearing a luxurious mustache.

The Guild: Seasons 1 & 2
It's technically not on TV, but it's definitely a show, and a damn good one, as far as Internet-only programs about MMORPG-playing geeks go. Felicia Day of Buffy, Dollhouseand Dr. Horrible fame is the most unrealistically pretty geek you will ever meet ("Date my avatar," indeed!), and if you're not watching Season 3, with guest a kilt-wearing Wil Wheaton, you should be.

Kings: Season 1
A modern-day fantasy based on a Bible story and set in an alternate reality? And it failed to find a following, you say? How peculiar!

Cobra: The Complete Series
This TV series, starring American Ninja Michael Dudikoff and the principal from Back to the Future, was about an ex-Navy SEAL who went AWOL to tech Inuit children, got shot in the face and was recruited into an undercover anti-crime agency called Cobra, which had less to do with health insurance and more to do with the fact that Dudikoff was given a classic Cobra to drive around in and help people. Despite all of this, more episodes of this were produced than of Kings.
