What Cameron’s Firing Means for House

by Mindy Monez September 25, 2009 3:56 pm
What Cameron’s Firing Means for House Yesterday, EW broke the shocking news that the House bosses have decided to let Jennifer Morrison go for creative reasons, and that her final episode (with the possibility of future guest spots, like that's a big consolation) will air this November. It's apparently a done deal, her goodbye's already been shot, and she did not quit -- she was written out because their future plans for the show do not include Cameron. That, for lack of a better word, blows. Here are some of the many reason why.

So We're Just Never Putting the Band Back Together?
Foreman's been back in the House diagnostic team fold for a while, and Chase and Cameron help out constantly, but I can't possibly be alone in hoping for the last two seasons that eventually they'd all be back together again, preferably with the addition of Taub and the exclusion of Thirteen. With Cameron gone and Hadley still going strong, that's of course never happening, but what's going to happen to Chase now? Is he just going to keep orbiting this team all alone until someone needs brain surgery every couple episodes? Or is he eventually going to come back, too? And if so, why would it be necessary to get rid of Cameron in order for that to happen? This whole we-have-a-Cameron-less-future-envisioned is just more and more baffling the longer I think about it.

And of All the Original Cast Members to Fire...
It had to be Cameron? She was the only one I personally have been dying to see more of ever since the original team was split up. Foreman's driven me crazy since day one of the series, and I like Chase just fine, but I've never really loved the character like I do Cameron. In terms of original cast, better Cameron be let go than Wilson or Cuddy, of course, but if you had to can somebody, Foreman or Chase make much more sense. Cameron's personal bond with House is certainly much stronger than either of theirs are, and if anybody just picked up and left House to rot in his own crazy, it would be one of them.

You Know This Just Means More Thirteen
I know some of you are sick of us saying this, and I hear that, but with one less original cast member to prioritize, especially a female one, more screentime devotion to Thirteen is just inevitable, knowing this show. That sucks for the people who don't like that character (and there are many), and for the fans who have been loyal since the beginning, it's like a new era -- in a bad way.
