Last night on Glee, Mr. Schue decided to motivate the slacking-off New Directions kids by splitting them into two groups and tasking them to create a mash-up. No one is into it, but a bit of pseudoephedrine helps inspire them to perform two of the most entertaining numbers the show has done so far.
The boys paired Bon Jovi's "It's My Life" with Usher's "Confessions Part II" and the girls mashed Beyonce's "Halo" and the infectious Katrina and the Waves pop song "Walking on Sunshine." On paper they sound like odd couples, but I think both surprisingly work. However, I'm torn on which is actually the one that I like best. They both have their merits, but I'm leaning towards the guys' tune just for how well both songs worked with the theme of Finn feeling like he was out of control of his life and coping with an unexpected pregnancy. And because Artie was awesome doing Usher and there was a guy doing some cool dancing in the middle of it. Then again, the girls rocked it out in their lemon yellow dresses. Who do you think won this competition? Watch the clips and then share your preference in the comments.

There's also the full episode available, if you feel that you need to watch the entire thing in context in order to properly judge.

I prefered the guys act. The girls mash-up was entertaining, but the guys really hit it. It might be because I hated the girls with holding the O over their head running around.
I would lean to the guys a little more based on dancing and that two people got solos. I was verrry impressed that the background football player had something to do this time.
I like the guys better because honestly, their dancing was better. The girls just creeped me out a little...
Definitely the guys' routine. The ladies were a little too...frantic?
I vote for the boys, I thought the entire number was just better, better song selection, choreography, everything.
BTW the name of the glee club is New Directions--not New Horizons.
I can't vote for the boys because Finn's "Frankenteen" routine almost ruined all the awesome brought by Artie and Kurt's deadpan faces. But I have to agree that the girls look frantic....I think it's all the hair tossing.
I enjoyed both performances. I'd seen the preview of the guys on hulu earlier this week and was impressed, except that I thought Finn looked a little... well, wired, for lack of a better phrase. Of course, it turns out that they were all on "vitamins" dispensed by "Nurse" Terri.
I heard the track of the girls' performance before I saw the video with it - I was less impressed after I saw the choreography - they looked kind of messy and frantic. I guess that was the effect of the pills. ("They're safe - they're over the counter and FDA approved!") I loved Rachel's speech before they started. It was so cute: "...America needs sunshine and hope. Also, Angels."
I voted for the boys because they made better use of the less-exposed characters (Artie +Football players). The girls? Frantic, as previously noted.
Btw, the real name of the Glee club is Homo Explosions.
I definitely vote for the guys. I agree that girls seemed a little too frantic(though I think just the track of them singing is GREAT). And, while I LOVE Lea Michele's voice, it gives me chills y'all, I really want to see some of the other glee girls get to take the lead, I really hoped Rachel would step aside for one of the songs in the mash-up.
Also, Artie is my new favorite Usher. He killed that part.
I would have to say the guys. Agree with everyone that the girls seem way too frantic and I really didn't like how they ended the song with Rachel hitting that crazy ass note.
I thought Finn was awesome AFTER watching it in context. That's what I get for watching the clip beforehand.
Volume 2 is incredible. Please do yourself a favor and buy that record http://bit.ly/6nUbY1
i vote for the boys, theirs was so much better than the girls. the 2 songs really went well to gether
