Today's TWoP News: October 23, 2009

Today's TWoP News: October 23, 2009 I know, she's not the only one who got fired, but she is the one of the two most worthy of open ridicule.

This is yesterday's news, but sadly, it broke after we published yesterday's edition, so let's all belatedly rejoice over Ashlee Simpson and Auggie's respective firings from the awful, awful Melrose Place now. Pretty soon we get to have Heather Locklear, and the quotes from the show sound like they're going to abandon all attempts at grown-up plots like murder and whatnot in the future, so maybe the show will pull itself out of its creative black hole and become a fun guilty pleasure. But I doubt it.

I know no one cares, but this is being treated like semi-big news for some reason so I'll include it here -- Benjamin Bratt's going to return to Law & Order for one episode. Good for him. I hope he buys something nice.

Reality producer Scott Messick (Survivor, Shaq Vs., Destroy Build Destroy) has partnered with Lego to develop as many reality shows based around Legos as he can possibly think up. Maybe some of them will even end up on television some day! But I doubt it.

More weird things are coming out of the So You Think You Can Dance camp, as Adam Shankman is now saying that Johnny Knoxville might guest judge, and that the idiot "sends me critiques after every show, emails me these crazy critiques." Oh, the Jackass guy sends you insane, rambling emails, probably when he's high? So obviously he's qualified, and also relevant. My mistake.

Hulu has threatened to start charging for their service, as apparently ad-based revenue is even better when you're also charging people to consume it, especially when you're already charging a lot of them for cable in their own homes (example: obviously I pay to have FX and USA, but choose to watch It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Burn Notice on Hulu due to lack of DVR tuners, and I'm sure many of you consume Hulu similarly) but they've backed down a bit after a big ole internet backlash. It's still going to happen eventually though. Trust.

And everyone's freaking out over how Tracy Morgan cried on NPR. Schadenfreude it up here, you ghouls.
