Oscars 2010: And Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin are Hosting... Why?

Yesterday, they finally announced who would be hosting the Academy Awards ceremony next year, after it was revealed that Hugh Jackman would not return following last year's show-stopping performance. And the lucky host is... Alec Baldwin. And Steve Martin. Both of them. Because... it's... uh... huh? True, Baldwin just won his second Emmy in a row, and Martin has hosted the Oscars twice before, but this really makes zero sense to us, for the following reasons.

Lost Characters We Want to See on Other Shows

It seems like the entire cast of Battlestar Galactica has guest-starred on one show or another, so when we heard that Naveen Andrews -- who plays Sayid Jarrah on Lost -- would be making a guest appearance on Law & Order: SVU in January, we were psyched. After all, the Losties don't do a lot of guest spots, what with filming in Hawaii and all, and we're still not sure exactly when in 2010 Lost's final season will premiere, so we'll be happy to see Andrews on TV a little early. Unfortunately, since we don't know what role he'll be playing, we're just imagining Sayid talking to Benson and Stabler, which totally works for us. Since we miss all of the other Lost cast members equally once the show signs off, we came up with a list of shows we'd love to see their characters guest-star on. Why should BSG have all the fun?

Today's TWoP News: November 3, 2009 Kirstie Alley is bringing the crazy to reality television. I could just die.

Scott Wolf is Hooked on V (His New Show, Not the Vampire Drug)

The relaunch of the alien invasion drama V on ABC has brought together an exciting group of our favorite TV actors: Lost's Elizabeth Mitchell as a Homeland Security agent, Firefly's Alan Tudyk as her partner, his former co-star Morena Baccarin as head alien Anna and Smallville's Laura Vandervoort as an alien tour guide. But one of the most familiar faces on the show is undoubtedly Scott Wolf, who played Bailey for six seasons on Party of Five, and has more recently appeared on Everwood and The Nine. On V, Wolf plays Chad Decker, a TV reporter who is allowed to interview the aliens as long as he paints them in a positive light. We sat down for a one-on-one with Wolf (making no promises, mind you) to talk about his character's moral flexibility, the reality of alien invasions and why he's ready for this show to fail miserably.

Nine times out of ten, the original is better than the remake, so why not stock up on classic versions of Zorro, Doctor Who, Mission: Impossible, Edge of Darkness and 30 Rock? ...Wait, 30 Rock is a remake of Fraggle Rock, right?

Today's TWoP News: November 2, 2009

Southland is back on! Glee solo album news! HIMYM and Community guest stars! Crank the TV series! Sir Ian McKellan's sketchy TV brother! If you can't take the heat, get out of Today's TWoP News!

The 24 Missing Persons We'd Love to See Back (and the Ones We Wouldn't) As if I didn't already have high enough hopes for Season 8, the news that 24 is bringing back disgraced president Charles Logan is very good news indeed. He's one of my favorite villains and it got me thinking about the few established characters still alive in the 24-verse that I'd also love to see back, and the ones I'd rather have choke on the Cordilla Virus somewhere off-screen.
