A moment of silence, please. Or, at least, a moment of not Twittering. That's the same as silence nowadays, right? A Joss Whedon show has been cancelled (probably), which means that another angel has gotten its wings, which is also a metaphor for puberty.
Just as we were popping the champagne over the cancellation of Hank, we got some bad news -- the worst news one could get, even knowing full well that it was coming. Fox has finally cancelled Dollhouse. There was a moment earlier today when it seemed like perhaps the network had just capped Season 2 at 13 episodes, and would put off making a decision about Season 3 until later, but though Fox has yet to comment officially, all signs point to S2-13 truly being the end. And the Dollhouse: The Movie letter-writing campaign starts... 37 minutes ago!
ETA: Joss himself has posted a comment about the news over at (where else?) Whedonesque. Among other things, he says, "I'm grateful that we got to put it on, and then come back and put it on again. I'm off to pursue internet ventures/binge drinking... By the time the last episode airs, you'll know what my next project is. But for now there's a lot of work still to be done, and disappointment to bear."
It looks like the two Smallville episodes that introduce the Justice Society -- Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl -- as well as the return of the Martian Manhunter will air as a two-hour TV-movie on January 29th. Thankfully, the episode is written by talented comic writer Geoff Johns, which might make it bearable, since we at least have to stick around to see Pam Grier in the second half as government hero liaison Amanda Waller. And while we're a little sad that the Wonder Twins episode this week won't be feature-length, at least one of the twins is played by Allison Scagliotti from Warehouse 13.
In other casting news, Robert Patrick will appear on Chuck as Col. Keller, a man from Casey's past, and Fringe is casting for Walter Bishop's wife. We think Patrick could knock both roles out of the park equally well.
Fans of Band of Brothers, gird yourselves for battle, because Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are returning, to The Pacific! This behind-the-scenes featurette should tell you a little bit more about how they plan on making grown men cry this time around.
Try this sentence on for size: "Please, please, Miss J is my father's name; call me Miss J Junior."

I'm really excited about The Pacific. BoB is my fave miniseries ever
Season One of Dollhouse was uneven but at least interesting toward the end. This season has been dreadful.
BoB is my favorite miniseries too. I really liked the interviews with the vets. Let's hope that The Pacific will be equally outstanding, and at least it's not another look at the war in Europe. But I'd seriously like to move on from WWII. Korea and Vietnam also have stories of incredible bravery, and they seem more timely than endlessly hashing out the last good war.
Season 1 of Dollhouse was uneven, but improved hugely. This season has been AWESOME. So sorry to see this one go!
Never got into Dollhouse so I don't know if it was good or bad. Robert Patrick in "Chuck" should be good tho. I have a feeling he just might be a pretty good comedic actor.
Sad, but not unexpected, news about Dollhouse. I won't say I'm utterly shattered, I just hope the final episode give us closure.
Being a huge Whedon fan, I liked many aspects of Dollhouse. But this should be a lesson to Joss Whedon to stop putting Eliza Dushku in projects...she is not a compelling actress whatsoever.
Personally, I think that Joss Whedon should consider abandoning television entirely and do a web original series instead for his next project. Web originals have proven to be quite successful - now imagine one with Joss at the helm, backed by as many Whedon alumni as he can grab.
