BLOGS
This week, you have a choice between hilarious comedies and gripping dramas, family fare and adult material, and original Star Trek and Next Generation. One might say that this week's offerings run the gamut.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: It's a Very Sunny Christmas
Think about this show's normal taste level, then imagine how far they'll take it in the spirit of the holidays for this direct-to-DVD holiday special. The story involves "stolen toys, childhood videos, naked elves and a bloody run in with Santa Claus," and extras include deleted scenes with Young Charlie and Young Mac. In case you're still not sold, check out a clip from the special here.
The Steve Coogan Collection
Americans may know him best for his supporting film roles and the occasional lead role (Around the World in 80 Days, Hamlet 2, Tropic Thunder), but in the U.K., Cooogan has had a dozen different TV series and specials, including Knowing Me, Knowing You; I'm Alan Partridge; Saxondale; Dr. Terrible's House of Horrible; Coogan's Run; Paul and Pauline Calf's Video DiariesThe Tony Ferrino Phenomenon. All of them are collected here. Isn't it time you got to know his genius?
Andy Barker, P.I.: The Complete Series
Andy Richter may have turned his back on scripted comedy in favor of rejoining his old wingman Conan O'Brien on The Tonight Show, but his legacy lives on in DVD form, with Andy Barker P.I., Andy Richter Controls the Universe and his single episode of Strangers With Candy. (Sadly, his guest spot on Chuck isn't out yet; luckily, neither is Quintuplets.) Following the misadventures of an accountant mistaken for a detective, Barker only lasted six episodes but is definitely worth checking out, if only for guest stars Amy Sedaris, James Hong, Ed Asner and Traci Lords.
Farscape: The Complete Series
More TV shows need puppets. This sci-fi series lasted four seasons with not only awesome alien make-up, but also entirely artificial aliens created by Jim Henson's Creature Shop. Why not get some puppets on Fringe? On Lost? On NCIS: Los Angeles?
Drawn Together: The Complete Series
Stand-ins for Superman, Spongebob, Josie, Legolas, Betty Boop, Belle and Pikachu move into a house together, and the result is an animated Real World parody that is much funnier than it has any right to be.
Also out this week:
Rome: The Complete Series Is it sacrilegious to give the gift of Rome on Christmas? The show is all about a couple of Roman centurions, and while neither of them is the one who killed Jesus, they are polytheists...
The Sopranos: The Complete Series ...Okay, this would definitely be sacrilegious.
7th Heaven: The Ninth Season Shouldn't this show have ended with Season 7, with the Rapture happening in the finale?
Wagon Train: The Complete First Season That wagon train took eight seasons to get to California. Eight!
The Best of Star Trek: The Original Series, Vol. 2 Includes "A Piece of the Action," in which Kirk and crew dress up like 1920s gangsters.
The Best of Star Trek: The Next Generation, Vol. 2 Includes "Tapestry," which is like the It's a Wonderful Life of TNG.
Monk: The Best of Monk If we cared more, we would look up which episodes are on here, but does it really matter?

Wheeee! Farscape the series out on DVD at last, at last! I am beyond excited. Ben Browder and Claudia Black... delicious. *GRIN* I never thought I'd ever get into that show, but it's amazing.
